Flew to Detroit and drove it to Chicago to visit family and then back home to DC! Put on roughly 1000 miles over 1-2 days!

Was driving wife's car from Iowa to Ohio, stopped in Chicago and traded in her Mazda3 for the M3 and continued to Ohio, then to PA, then drove back to Iowa. All over Christmas 2009 in a blizzard (on summer tires). What can I say, love at first snowy donut.

I generally drive our 535 on long trips, but have done a 440 mile / 7.5 hour drive in my E92 M3. Given the choice as a highway cruiser, the 535 is far superior. The M3 seats are fine, but the high rpms, poor gas mileage, and road noise do not make for a good cruiser.

Went to the track? I'm considering the opposite, coming to COTA in Austin, TX some time ....

Longest time for me is 9 hours - driving from Bay Area to Chuckwalla.

I've had a number of trips where I left work at 8-9 pm and headed to LA on Friday, not always a fun drive when you're tired.

I normally fight fatigue when driving all day. The reasons you list kept me awake and alert for the drive. ///M3 with S65 is like an IV drip of caffeine.. or crack

Nice to read everyone's responses!

East London to Land's End. 380 miles in eight hours including a one hour stop (it was also Glastonbury weekend so needed a few diversions to avoid the obvious pinch points and which i estimate added 40 miles as I zagged and zigged across southern England).
No aches or pains though I think my dad and mum in law were happy to get out of the back seats ;-)

Yep. BMW CCA Ofest was up there in '13 and we drove up and back. Up was a fun back 5 day road trip, coming home was a 2 day sprint. The gang is doing it again this year for Ofest since it's back there again for BMW's 100 yr celebration.

COTA is a fun track, worth the trip.

Just got back from about 2500 miles in a week in the E92 M3. Drove from KY to Orlando FL, drove around FL for a week, and then back to KY. Wife wanted to fly, but I insisted we drive because it is so much more fun to have your car in a new destination! I have had my car for exactly a year now, and it has spent 6 weeks in the shop due to being hit by distracted driver. In 10.5 months I have put 22,000 miles on my M3 and I have thoroughly enjoyed every single mile!

All you people driving to COTA for track days, and all I do is go to their parking lots for autocross events.

Drove the M3 from Philly to Toronto Canada back in 2014. Had swift springs already. Was afraid of a flat since I did not have runflats on the HREs. Was 6-7 hours drive each way. It was amazing.

Once I crossed the border, I swapped all my mph to KMs and C temp. I've always used 24 hour clock tho. The car became instantly a 100k+ car in Canada

Forgot to mention the unfortunate event that occured in Florida on the way home just a few miles outside of Georgia.

Got pulled over for doing 91 in a 70. This was my first speeding ticket in 14 years of driving. Officer was very nice and quick and reduced the ticket down for me a good deal. This car is such a good interstate cruiser and is so stable at high speeds it was very hard to keep the car around the 70 MPH for the rest of the way home. I had to set cruise control for almost the whole way home which I don't like doing, because every time I looked down I was doing 80+.

Wow, first ticket in 14 years??? Amazing. I am lucky to get past the 18 month window for traffic school that clears points of my record...

Longest to date is 3 hours from SF to Redding; had to keep my cruise on since I am still within my 18 month window and cannot afford another ticket/point on my record...that was a painful drive (even though my M3 was great), especially when there was no one on the road for miles and my M button was calling to me to push the 155 max speed...

I just bought my 2011 on the 17th in Dallas, TX and drove it home to San Francisco, CA. 1800 +\- miles total. It was a comfortable and fun drive but I had to spend most of it in cruise control after 2 speeding tickets!
