ApexRaceParts - GT4 style brake duct
ApexRaceParts GT4 style duct kit $199 for the pair Click HERE to purchase In stock and ready to ship! Design: The Carbon ducts were white light scanned and then modifications were made to the CAD profile before producing a prototype with a 3D printer A mold was created using that sample pair to produce the ducts from ABS plastic. Improvement: These ABS ducts have been modified to include a thicker ring where the hose connects The carbon ducts are only 2.75" OD and not a true 3" connection The added ring results in a tighter more secure fit It helps prevent hoses from sliding off, or hose clams from crushing the tube if tightened too hard. The factory Carbon ducts are $599 a pair. These ducts are 1/3 the price Weight: The original carbon ducts are 0.8 ounces each The new ABS ducts are 1.6 ounces each This is such a low weight, that the benefits of carbon fiber weight savings on such a small part is negligible in addition to costly Hardware: No mounting hardware is included These are sold on their own Installation: These install under the factory bumper, directly into the black foam under tray cutting of the foam is required to install these Backing Plates and hoses: At this time the ducts are being sold on their own for those who want to fabricate their own kit These ducts were originally intended to be sold as part of a complete kit including hoses and plates Another vendor is still working on producing backing plates that can be used with these ducts on both OEM and BBK applications Customers who wish to use these ducts will need to supply their own 3" duct and hose clamps at this time ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Carbon Fiber vs. ApexRaceParts duct |

We sent off a set months ago for testing to a vendor and they did not provide us photos. They install exactly the same as the CF factory ducts. The only photo I've seen of that is from Turner's site, and I do not want to take their imagery.

update- ordered 3 inch tubing and clamps and a backing plate flange from summit for 91$. so overall into the project 310-320$ with shipping. will be doing the install myself in the weeks to come. cantrells set up comes through the inner fender liner and would not work with my aggressive wheels as too much rub im afraid. also didnt like the position of their ducts as they come in through the lower bumper inlets which is very obvious. want a more stealth look if possible. will continue to update with progress.

Any estimate on price for the complete kit (ducts, mounts, hoses)?

I've made & installed my own awhile ago, I'm glad to see that a vendor is providing these for the track enthusiasts. Nicely done!
Two vexing issues I've encountered during my installation were: 1. routing the ductwork around the undertray suspension cables and oil cooler lines 2. the exit hole in the inner fender liner If you guys want me to, I can post a link to my installation, who knows it may help a few people with their own installs. I think I'll order a set to replace my home-brewed ones but only after I see how the ducts are routed with this new setup.

please do. might mean a few less surprises with my install. not sure about the exit from the undertray portion and whats in there. im hoping i can route fairly far in along the lower control arm so rubbing on my wheels isnt an issue.

If I were to do it again I would probably route them via the lower pan (undertray), especially if the intention is to connect them to backing plates. (Mine wasn't).

can you explain what you mean by this? looks like its gonna be a pita. i bought flanges to mount to my stock backing plates. dont wanna come through the fender liner like you did and was planning on routing i guess in an L shape going from the apex duct towards the center line then back along the lower control arm. gonna have to figure it out as i go i guess.

If you keep the duct going flat in the undertray, it will come out at the back of the undertray and you will need to trim the fender liner to allow it to come out. The way I've routed mine, it sort of goes up and towards the center line - I aimed for the inner fender opening to be in the "corner" of the fender liner (i.e towards the center line, for clearance). Also, the suspension cables (aka bowden cables) will get in the way somewhat, and as far as I can tell they are needed to keep the undertray structurally secure at high speeds (where it would tend to be sucked out by the pressure differential). Let me put it this way - you will have to make compromises, and don't make any cuts until you figure out the routing. Edit: I don't want to hijack the vendor's post, I think this is a great product and I wish I had it a year and a half ago - it would have saved me a lot of trouble. If you guys want to ask questions about my setup, let's use my original post (at the link above).

Any installed pics of how the ducting was routed? I just want to run it to the back of the undertray to provide some air in the wheel well.

Interesting... So how did you get the hose to bend 90 degrees and come out perpendicular to the wheel?
I'm asking because I have a chance to redo my front ducts, so I'm looking for alternatives to the way I did it way back when.

it didnt bend 90 degrees. more at an angle so directed at the leading edge/side of the rotors.

you betcha. i later ran them from the firewall to the backing plate with 3 inch also which was a mistake. i had very limited turning radius before rubbing.

I have my brake cooling kit coming from Cantrell Motorsports and thinking I should not be installing it all the way to baking plates too. Just do same what you did so I wont be loosing any turning radius
