2009 E90 M3 6 Spd 77k miles, Rod knock

Item Interest
Selling clean 2009 BMW E90 M3 6sp manual, lemans blue with bamboo interior. Has slight rod knock. Engine still starts and runs. Interior is mint. Never tracked. Local pickup only. $17,500.

Modifications;
AA tune w/e85 tune
macht shnell underdrive pulley's
brand new oem steering wheel
new oem m3 carpets
weather tech matts
bimmerworld motor mounts
Bummer world oil dipstick mod
Test Pipes
Megan Racing exhaust
German auto solutions control arm bushings


Maintenance items;
both TA's replaced in the last 35k miles
all fluids except coolant changed recently
sparkplugs changed in the last 10k miles
BE bearings replaced at 50k
new control arms and tension bars in front
New oem intake filter

I can't help but think if the rod knock is "Slight" you're doing yourself a disservice by trying to sell it in this condition.

Has a shop actually looked at the car and given it an estimate? Otherwise a prospective buyer is probably going to factor in the cost of an entire engine replacement.

If it's salvagable you'd probably better off fixing it then selling it. An LMB E90 in otherwise good looking condition should easily put you $10K+ higher.

I attempted to factor in an engine replacement into the existing price based on the this being a clean example and I believe a somewhat rare spec.

Are you positive its rod knock? I see you have BE bearings, I've never heard of them failing before. Just a long shot but bad AC compressor bearings will make a similar noise to rod knock.

Bummer sorry I missed the linked thread. Either way it’s a nice looking spec and whoever takes the time to rebuild it seems like they’ll be in for a treat.
