Is $400 over Euro Delivery invoice a good price on West Coast?

Hi, I got quotes from ~4 dealers and the best I have found on the West Coast is $400 over invoice. The rest are $500 with one at ~$750, but they are throwing in tint. Is that a good price for european delivery?

I know what's going on over on the East Coast but shipping would make it prohibitive...

Dude... if you are doing Euro Delivery you can order your car at any dealer and be delivered at any other dealer for no additional charge.

That's one of the beauties of Euro Delivery.

I think that you need to contact an Euro Delivery specialist, not a regular dealer trying to do an Euro Delivery. Did you call here? https://www.bmwsonline.com/

Yup. I talked to David. IIRC told me shipping would cost $500... but we'll see, I might have heard wrong. Trying to get it delivered here free... thanks for reminding me, I called him up to check about the shipping charge.

The name of the process is "Courtesy Delivery" and unfortunately it is not something that is part of the Euro Delivery (my bad); it is dependent of the willingness of the dealer that is placing the order and the dealer that you want to make the actual delivery in the USA to coordinate such delivery.

Used to be a simple/no-cost process but it seems that now it is not that "courtesy" anymore... they can do it if they really want it to happen, though.

Yup, just confirmed; Courtesy delivery is an additional charge. I think it's more economical to do local.

If you want to go local, I got my ED E92 M3 for $300 over invoice at BMW SF. After getting my order notarized, I was quoted $300 over invoice from Stevens Creek (Dave Parker). Dave is a real gentleman to deal with. I went to BMW SF because it's so close to where I live. Then again, you can just go to https://www.bmwsonline.com/

so he quoted you $300 over ED invoice or the invoice of the car in US ?

$300 over ED invoice. I am pretty sure BMW SF will match that too. Email Alek at SF. He's a straight shooter. I just went local as there is some paperwork involved with ED and I didn't want to do everything via fax.

that is what i was thinking ... 300 over ED invoice is a good deal and you don't have to pay extra 500 for the shipping

Now I have to decide whether I want DCT or 6-speed before I get my production number... oh boy...

I had the same dilemma. BMWNA almost cancelled my order cuz I changed my mind 3 times. Go drive both, which I did. The DCT with the latest software is pretty amazing and a lot of fun. You will feel like cheating when it rev-matches for you downshifting. My previous bimmer was 6MT, but it really made me think twice. And for city driving in SF, the DCT can be pretty handy.

I say go with DCT ... the more i am driving the more i am noticing that DCT is just like a MT, just much better ...

Yup, I think I'm leaning towards keeping the DCT option on my order. I'm keeping my E46 6spd with <10k miles that I still enjoy immensely, so I might as well try something different?

I did notice shift lag but only when I was cruising around with light throttle. If I put my foot down the shifts were instant.

Having test driven both the 6 speed manual and DCT a couple times each, I became sure that if i didn't get the 6 speed manual, I would deeply regret it. Being one with the drive is what the M3 is about, and the DCT didn't cut it for me. Yes, I would've made my wife and family extremely happy if I would've chose the DCT, but it simply didn't satisfy me.

The feeling of driving a 6 speed manual is so much more fun and involving.

+1....so to answer OP's question. yes, you could of done better but you already did pretty good.
