Leather repair

Just bought a 2008 M3 with only 20,000 miles on it. I cleaned the seats with Chemical Guys products and noticed some big improvement. Unfortunately it seems that the previous owner was a "heavy user" and the leather on the driver seat bolster is damaged (2 bad scratches and some discoloration).

Has anyone used the Swisswax or Furniture Clinic recoloring dye? Is this enough or do I need something else?

Ive had good results with the colourlock line (swissvax leather product supplier) and their dye was pretty much spot on based on a leather sample i sent them. The only downside was a 6 week wait and if ordered from swissvax directly would be longer.

Based on what i can see from the picture of the area of bolster wear I would prep the area by sanding the deeper sections with a leather sanding pad and then GLD the area that you want to dye to strip and dye off and make sure the surface will bond properly. If the leather has a gouge or deeper scuff liquid leather or leather filler will work. When you're ready to re-dye you can use a soft foam block and apply the dye giving enough time in between coats to dry. Heat gun can help speed up the process.

Another company to take a look at would be http://www.leatherworldtech.com . They are based in the USA and looks like they have a full color code for bmw dyes. Haven't used their stuff personally but products look very similar to what Ive used.

On the cars I've done from excess leather that was tucked underneath the rear seats for custom colors or older cars. On newer model bmw's some dye manufacturers have the oem color codes

did you ever figure out a fix to that scratch in your seat.... weird but I bought my m3 second hand as well and I have the exact one.... literally

Do yourself a favor and find a leather upholstery shop and have them fix it. I bet you'll spend about $250 and it will be perfect.

I agree Brian_Fantana. I tried to fix it myself with a color balm but it didn't work. I will just take it to a Pro who I'm sure will be to fix this.
