I came upon the forums when looking for cleaning/maintenance tips for the frozen paint and this place really helped out. So far, the maintenance hasn't been bad at all- gave it a wash and sealant (Dr. Beasleys) this past weekend after we had some dirty rain come through. Its got some small imperfections from the previous ownership that I'll try to fix, but beyond that, its quite clean.

Well, just wanted to pop in and say hi, and thanks for the cleaning tips!
hey congrats on your new car and welcome to the "frozen" club!

Yeah man, I tried the BMW nano wax and it is awesome, you can still use the body wash, cleaner and sealant from Dr. Beasley's but the matte finish looks better with this BMW wax than with DB matte finish
Post some pics when you have a chance

Frozen silver touch up advice

Hello all. I have 2 very small (< 1 mm) rock chips on my 2013 frozen silver E92 M3. Just behind the fully wrapped (xpel ultimate stealth) front of course at the front portion of the passenger door. Very minor defects but I was considering repairing these and then perhaps wrapping the doors with paint protection film afterwards as I have been very happy with the wrap in terms of aesthetics and protection. I saw that I can purchase paint pens from automotive touch up with supposedly the exact color match (490 W07). My questions: 1) would you recommend application of primer and then base coat alone, or 2) should these be followed by clear coat application (I'm concerned about introducing too much gloss by doing this), or 3) perhaps leaving it alone as it is barely perceptible to anyone else but me and would likely not be seen if I just go ahead and apply paint protection film over this area? If I were to do the paint protection film alone, my concern would be future damage to this area from oxidation of this unprotected area. I certainly don't want to make things worse, but if others have had success with fixing minor frozen paint defects I would love to hear your advice please. Further, if you have any particular recommendations regarding where to purchase the touch up paint that would be great. Thank you in advance. I have attached a screen shot of the product I was considering purchasing for this repair.

if it's barely noticeable, i'd leave it alone and make sure you have protective film covering that area from now on.

i never trust products like these, so i don't use them.

Brilliant read! I've too just joined the club.

Looking into having the car wrapped in stealth wrap (safe for factory matte paint). Anyone done this?

Outstanding!

My buddies shop has offered to wrap mine (they just did a C63 AMG Black edition! Looked perfect), but feedback from an actual user is perfect.

Frozen Blue here. Just picked her up after 6+ months search.
Love this car. Absolutely love frozen blue finish and blue stitching on the interior.
Have clear bra installed on most of the car and looking forward to using car as summer DD.

Have few pictures on my phone, will post when I'll have a moment to upload them. Anyway, just washed car (first time). Had 2-weeks old bugs on the car (from my first 200 miles road trip). I know I supposed to take care of this ASAP, but to be honest I was busy at work (...) Anyway, washing frozen paint was easy. Car is perfect. No marks left after taking care of bugs. Actually, washing frozen paint and drying process was much quicker and easier, comparing with washing regular paint on my GT-R.
Love the car. Love the paint. Wherever I go, car gets thumbs up and I am being asked how much I paid for wrapping it(...) I only wish M3 was a little faster and more responsive. Other than that, I am a happy camper!

That happens to me too, everybody thinks it is a wrap lol
It will certainly feel slow next to your GTR, supercharge it and it will be a different car, I couldnt be happier with my ESS 650 kit

Great thread. I have a frozen silver and find the same as several have already said...generally easier to maintain day to day but chips and are harder to deal with.

Thought a pic of my matte clear mask would be helpful for those considering the same. I find that it changes the appearance of the car much more than a mask on traditional paint. Also, it does not seem to stick as well, meaning that the edges are more prone to peel up than with gloss topcoat. This mask was applied by the same folk as three previous cars so I don't consider product or workmanship to be a factor.

Picked up a Frozen Blue in August. I was wondering what can I do about rock chips? Notice one on my hood, passenger door, and front bumper. Do you think I can still wrap it even with the rock chips? Thanks
