Bingo. Even with DSC fully engaged you cannot defy the laws of physics. You should always drive defensively and assume the system can't save you.

DSC isn't some kind of magical failsafe, and while we don't know if it's good enough to have helped recover after a loss of control on a rainy freeway, we do know that the system was set to not even try, so...it's not as though those of us acknowledging the link between the off button and the accident are just grasping at straws out in left field here.

This has very little to do with BMW, same thing happened to me, 360 degree spin getting on the Garden State parkway with my 1980 BMW 320i when I was 17! I shit my pants but recovered like in the movies.
Id expect the same outcome with any RWD vehicle whose engine sits up front. byroncheung, I'm sorry you experienced this, I hope with insurance and with whatever kind a vehicle you choose going forward you'll be able to have the same degree of passion and excitement you had for you beloved M3. |

Sorry to hear op. This story makes me think twice driving around with mdm all the time like I do even when there's rain simply because I like the stiffer settings I have it on. Hope you find the fun replacement soon.

Sucks about the car, but luckily you are still here to chat about it. As far as short term lease, long term rental go; I would keep checking swapalease.com for a potential daily until you can find another M....

I seem unable to make my point.
Cheers,

Per OP - Euro MDM not MDM.
The Euro MDM is a lot more aggressive than the US OEM MDM. Here is Euro MDM, in the rain at NYST, I still maintain not for commuting duties. You can see the traction control light goes on, but it also allows quit a bit of tail swing out before it tries to help. Once I started to go to trackdays, I lost any motivations to be hero on the street. . |
