Car Dies after extended idle?
Hey guys, so after idling for an extended period of time, like 20-25 minutes (Have had to wait for some people for a while) and then continue to drive the car, after idling for so long, the car for some reason will throw every error in the book. Radio dies and my hardwired V1 also loses power. It seems as that everything electrical loses power... gauges turn off and then Power Steering dies. Then the car goes into limp mode, and then ultimately dies. The car then wont restart immediately, and then after about 5 minutes the car will struggle to restart but it does restart. The car starts up as if the battery was disconnected (Time and Date resets, trip resets, as well as MPG etc.)
Anyone have an idea of what could be the issue? Voltage Regulator/Alternator? |

I think you've answered your own question as where to start first. Power supply and storage.

Check the battery using the old faithful dead load tester. The electronic ones suck and have false readings on multiple occasions.
My wife has a 328 e92, put a oem battery in it and it went bad in 14 months.

I checked the battery sensor, it seemed to be working. I replaced it anyway and problem still persists.

Interesting, I bought a new alternator, hopefully it works. |
