Pair of New Devices (android Content)
I decided not to switch phones last year and instead opted to hold out for LG's and Samsung's latest models this year: G7 and S9. So far, I'm pleased. I'm already a huge LG fan and my wife who takes more photos and videos than I can ever count loves Samsung, who are really hard to beat in that area.
Unboxed added glass screen protectors and cases (Spigen is my fav) on both and have played around with them for a few days. Both are super fast and responsive!

The OP even posted a warning this thread was for people who prefer Android and here we are ... iLemmings needs to weigh in with their two cents.
TX, my employer has me buy a new phone each year (currently the S8+). Really like that LG phone, but am probably going to stick with Samsung for SPay (one of my two main banks doesn't support Google Pay but both support Samsung Pay). Why the S9 instead of the S9+ or Note 9? |

Despite the warning, the first person to weigh in had nothing to say about the two phones OP bought, but had to drop some of the typical iPhone haterade bullshit. I simply corrected some misinformation. Feel free to have your Android lovefest now. |

For the choice of the S9. My wife was already a little hesitant in the size increase coming from the S7. So basically, we went with the smallest version. Which technically, it's still a sizeable device. man what a beautiful display on this Samsung! The curved edges really make for a pleasant viewing experience. Had I not been such a LG person (G3, G4, G5, G7) I would go with the S9+ I really wouldn't get much use from the pen on the Note 9.But that device is super sweet too! But I'm really digging the latest Android OREO 8.0 It's VERY fast and super smooth! |

The S8+ was my first Samsung phone in many years (since an SII) and I was originally worried about the size and bought the S8 but then traded it in for the S8+ so I get the concern.
All of them are awesome phones and Oreo is pretty impressive overall. Congrats on two really nice pieces of hardware ... |

It has considerably more storage space and Ram right out the box! It is also comes with Android 8.1 with ever so slight improvements.

I'll be going with a Note 9 probably in October; I've been carrying the same Note 5 for 3 years now. The only thing that bothers me about the Note 9 are the colors. I hate that specific carriers got specific colors. Can I not just get a black or silver phone? Frustrating to say the least. I read that black and/or silver won't even be released in the U.S. markets. If a manufacturer feels the need to cater to everyone and their special fancy colors to please the mindless, then they should cater to those who aren't trying to be all extra too. Typically this wouldn't bother me but the design takes the color all the way to the camera lens. I'll probably wrap the back in vinyl and make it my own special extra.

I've recently switched to OnePlus because of the possibility of having 2 sim cards in one phone and therefore 2 phone numbers per device. Before I used to carry 4 samsung galaxy/note devices eveywhere but now all I need is 2 OnePlus 5 devices and Im all set.
The best part is that the devices come with no bloatware whatsoever and run perfectly smooth. |

The Note 9 is pretty tempting. I'll have a fair chunk of perq money this year that I'll need to spend. Surface Go, Note 9, my wife wants a new iPhone (), all doable ...

Hold out to the s10's if you can. Note 9 does not intrigue me in terms of functions and its price tag is scary. Currently using s9+ and very happy with it.
For those looking for upgrading to the Note 9 from Note 5 and up, they are offering $500 rebate in Costco as a trade-in program (with Costco card - not through monthly billing). $500 trade-in for Note 5 is incredible IMO. |
