LCI tail light coding question
Was wondering how the LCI tail light coding works.
I have a 2008 e90 M3 and did the LCI upgrade at least 6 or 7 years ago. Back then I think I had the car coded for the tail lights. 2500 miles ago I had the battery changed and the coding for the battery set everything back to pre LCI. Now 2500 miles later I am getting a left tail light malfunction. The lights work but they flash fast. Tried replacing with a new housing and it still has the error. Is this an error that will pop up after 2000 miles? Or will I get the error right away? If it's not coding and not the housing could it be the connector? |

your mileage spread isnt making sense to me, did you have the battery changed then immediately after got the hyper flash?
if the answer to this is no then ccheck the front turn signal and fender turn signal bulb.

Anyhow I first thought maybe bad LCI tail lights so I bought new ones from FCP. Plugged them in and still had the error. Turns out the bad LCI lights are from 09 to 2010. My lights where 2013. Had my airbag/ blower motor harness/ and red battery cable recall done... and the lights worked again after... but went bad again the next day. So finally I got everything recoded at EAS. Looks like it all works perfect with the old lights for the last week. Now I have an extra set of outer LCI taillights to sell (I figure easier to sell the old ones at a discount than pay shipping and return the new ones to FCP) |
