DanMpower || Melbourne Red E92 6MT

3/3/2023 Delivery Day

Meet my 2009 Melbourne Red E92 M3 6MT on black extended leather. 16K miles.

I saw this gem on Carvana a few months ago showing "Purchase in Progress" and I was so bummed because it's almost the perfect spec I was looking for with only 16k miles! I added my contact to be alerted if somehow the sale fell through and sorta forgot about it, but as luck would have it, I received a text a couple of weeks ago saying it just became available. I jumped on the computer and made the purchase.

There were a couple of shipping delays along the way but the car finally arrived from Texas, I took a chance since I had to pay a non-refundable $1800 shipping fee. Carvana gives you a 7-day return policy so I'll be going through it with a fine tooth comb, so far it seems nearly perfect from my initial observation. First time driving an E9x M3 with such low miles, everything just feels tight and solid, even still has the new BMW smell. The dealer drilled the front plate into the bumper after I repeatedly asked them not to. Other than that, the purchase and delivery went smoothly, the delivery driver was into cars so we chatted it up for a bit. I knew I couldn't stay away too long, feels so good to be back in an E9x M3.

We knew you couldn't stay away long, either!

Stunner, congrats! Extended black leather is seriously underrated since it does not show in pictures.

So autosolutions SSK, some sort of xpipe exhaust setup, and ZCP wheels.

What else is part of the DanMpower formula?

Lol reading my mind there I see?
Needs some maintenance items squared away first, I only have what Carfax reported to go on as far maintenance records.

Installed my MPE yesterday so I might skip an X-Pipe this time around. Still debating on doing ZCPs or a squared 18 setup.

What's funny was I had a V2 MPE stashed all this time knowing I'll be back.

What a gem.

Wonder why it was put back up for sale. I'd have that thing on a lift or jackstands day one combing through everything.

My guess was it was sale pending for a few times but didn’t go through due to financing. I would imagine it being difficult getting nearly a 50k loan for a 14 year old BMW in current times.

Absolutely stunning. Looking for a MR myself. If you need paint correction/ceramic coating let me know. I would love to work on your car.

Very nice car.

I’m interested in knowing if the body condition and all blemishes were accurately shown on Carvana’s site. Also were the fees accurate?

The credit union I bought three cars through over the years almost denied me financing for my M3. Definitely a tough ask lately.

The car's body is nearly flawless, can't find a single ding, I'm really particular and every panel is near 10/10 except the front bumper which looks like the PO must've run it up against a parking block or something causing a small bump at the bottom lip. I'll have my body shop look at it when I have them fill the license plate holes, might be able to massage it out with some heat. All original paint according to the paint meter.

The strange thing is Carvana notated tiny little almost imperceivable imperfections on the website, I'm talking like tiny little rock chips which you could barely make out in person but then totally doesn't mention the little ripple at the bottom of the front bumper which you can clearly see.

Other things I've found annoying:
  • They overfilled the oil when they did their service on the car. I have a Liqui-Moly kit currently being shipped from FCP so I won't drive it too much in case they overfilled it by a lot!
  • One keyfob battery was low and 2nd one was dead.
  • The tires still have decent thread, 6/32nds rear and 8/32nds front, but OG Michelin Pilot PS2s from the 23rd week of 2013

Minor issues in the grand scheme of things, but overall still absolutely in love with the car. Not sure about the fees yet since nobody at Carvana seems to be able to answer any questions regarding DMV stuff, they just say if I overpaid I'll get a refund.

Congrats on the clean car! I feel as though I’m doing the same thing; addressing all the maintenance/neglected replacements that should have been done.

It’s nice at the end when you know everything is up to your standards!

Yes sir, especially when Carvana over-filled the car when they did the oil change.

Couldn't wait for my FCP order so I headed down to the local NAPA and to my delight they carried Liqui-Moly. Fresh oil and filter in, all good now.

Interesting that it looks like the kidney surrounds are color matched?!

Love a clean MR though!

Yup looks like the previous owner installed IND color matches front grilles and side markers.
