I was looking forward to reaching a thousand, I was at 956. I have had 221 points taken from me

If the off topic subjects apparently add nothing to a car forum then why have them? I suspect if these 'non car' topics were removed Bummerpost would lose a lot of members. I am going to have a look at other bmw forums & may well join one as a protest

That's due to European conversion rates. Euro rep points are down right now.

BTW I am curious to know how many other people's posts that I've appreciated have had my appreciacian removed? If I read something that I feel I would like to appreciate it would seem that the powers that be are now going to decide whether or not my appreciacian of any particular post is valid, mmm seems like censorship to me

It's a random algorithm that changes by the day.....mine has went up or down by 1000 points daily. Tomorrow I might have a few reps and the next day thousands. Think the mods are getting a kick out of this. Probably better to not take reps seriously as there is not any consistency.

We are trying to find the best balance in the algorithm so it takes time. We might just go back to 1 point across the board to keep it simple but we can't find the best balance unless we apply the algorithm across the board and see how it plays out, which takes about a day to implement for each change.

For the vast majority of people the changes are subtle, but for the people who have most of their reputation on the off topic boards and don't have much activity on the main forums they are seeing the wild fluctuations.

It’s a highly advanced nondeterministic algorithm. Your rep points go in and ther is no telling what the fuck comes out.
