08 M3 Issues

So I got a used m3 7 months ago (08 12/07)
In that span
I have had to change an engine coil
Throttle actuator
Clutch/Fly wheel
It barely has 56k miles on it. I thought this was a reliable car.

There is no such thing as a high performance reliable car ... BUT, clutch/flywheel at that mileage shows it was either abused or just defective.

you're right and I did learn to drive stick on it so I guess I did attribute to some wear but to wear out already after I had it for 6-7 months. I have the model with the discontinued clutch/fly wheel so I have to replace both.

Curious as to what the clutch/flywheel is costing you?

I found that if you buy from LuK
which is the OEM Supplier of BMW
it comes out to pretty much half

That sounds about right. Dealer quoted me recently on a new clutch/flywheel being $2800 and close to $1500 in labor. Curious what an Indy shop charges on a clutch job.

Anyone know if you can find an oem clutch/flywheel for lower than that?

Damn! A SPEC clutch w/the alum flywheel option comes in @ $1938 http://specclutch.com/cars/BMW/M3/2008/Super_Twin I know you said OEM, however, which excludes this setup.

Couldn't find anything on the luk kits he was referring to on their website. Every other source I looked at had e46 and earlier luk kits.

I did find this through get bmw parts:

https://www.getbmwparts.com/parts/20...section=CLUTCH

I know they changed the flywheel for post 08 M3s so that should be it.

Everything else I found was aftermarket. Maybe dig around ebay also.

A coil and actuator ain't that bad. Clutch was driver error.

All things considered that doesn't seem unreliable at all.

Was your previous car a honda or toyota?

Thanks for the pic of the gauges. You should really wear your seat-belt and check your tire pressure!

1. I removed TPM's from my wheels.

2. I'm at Idle.

3. Stop complaining about your ///M and suck it up; or sell it.

I think every single M3 gets a lot of repairs and require excessive maintenance regularly.

Since I bought my car they replaced the drive shaft, o2 sensor and, temp sensor a total of 4k in repairs. I also had to take it in for the 60k service which is like oil/air filter and stuff.

You can code this out if you don't plan to switch back. I did this on my US spec M3, coded it to have the CAD tire monitoring setup which doesn't use the in wheel sensors.
