It's a 2008, 6MT, basically no options aside from the 19 inch wheels.
The car's had 2 owners. A search on Carfax reveals that it's been accidented, the front bumper was replaced, 3k worth of damage. It's got 115,000k (about 71,000 miles), and 1 year left on BMW's powertrain warranty. The transmission has just been replaced as well as the brakes (discs and pads) Asking price is 32k What do you guys think? |

Can't tell from the post if the lack of options is a positive, negative or if you're indifferent.
Anyways, I wouldn't. A bit more ($3-5k) will get you one with a clean history and less miles.

And no I don't mind the fact that it's a bare bone M3 |

People on this forum will always tell you to stay away unless the car is pristine. Do your research and take your time. The perfect car is out there it just depends how much time you want to invest in looking for it.

Sounds like a candidate for a nice track car build.

Maybe if you can get the price down a bit more. With as many of these available and the history of this car IMO you have some room to negotiate.

I'd definitely check carproof vs carfax if you are in Canada. Carfax is ok for US but can miss Canadian stuff.
Also, quebec's used car industry is quite shady. I'd stay away from purchasing such a car in Quebec... |

As some have said here, do your homework, it could be ok, but more than likely it's not a good buy.
Think about it this way: - 5 year old car - been crashed - had major parts replaced - out of warranty - driven at least 23,000 miles a year (which is a lot) Don't let your excitement for buying an e92 get in the way of a good decision. This car will likely be a money pit. The right car will come, personally I would wait for something more promising. Some others have said "buy if its cheap enough". That is terrible advice. Say you buy for 30K because the seller knows the car is crap, then you run into 10K worth of issues right away, what next?

Depends on if you want a perfect car or not. Much easier to buy a sorted car for $40k than the above hypothetical basket case car for $30k plus $10k of parts and labor. If you want a sporty beater or a track car then it's worthwhile. But otherwise you're better off going for the better car. |

Eh, unless you're desperate, I'd wait for the right one to come along.

Transmission replaced? Makes me wonder what happened there?
Personally, I spent a little more money 2 years ago on a 2008 M3 (car was still under $40K), have a carmax warranty (sent it over $40k), more options, and a clean Carfax. IMOP, this car is not worth it. |

You guys are making a lot of valid points, I will stay away from this car. Something's telling me it's been beaten to death.
I guess with the M4 coming out next year more E92s will pop up on the used car market and at a lower price. I'll aim for a MY09 or 10 with less mileage, possibly with a few more options. Thanks for all your input I appreciate that a lot! |

Definitely opt for an '09+ for the better idrive if you can. Also if you like options, wait for the car with all of the options you want. Used there is very little price difference between non-optioned and loaded cars, and you can get $10k+ of options for $2-3k more.

Wait a few months til all the M4 guys start dumping their E9X M3s and invest a little more time into finding a clean one. You'll be much happier if you find the "right one" on the long run. |
