Did you read the recall letter?

If it has a silver label...
If it has 4 LED's
If it starts with 10... i.e. 10xx

Then it's affected. Yours and your friend have 1010 and 1014, both are recalled.

I'm just gonna send mine in and hope to get it back right away ... My bay doesn't look stock anyways so I could care less of two wires.

If they take to long or if the kit doesn't perform like it use to then I'll start the bashing

I realize that, all I'm asking is why there are different numbers on the power supplies if they're both from the same batch and are both 6500K!

I understand shit happens. And I don't have a problem with that. But for the guys in Canada, not only having to pay the freight to ship these back but also having to wait the week to 10 days to get the lights back to NAM, the turn around for repair. Then to have to wait another 7-10 days to get them back really sucks. I would think a recall should never have to be covered by the customer no matter where they live? What do you think???????

Probably serialized power supplies. 1001 thru 1099.

Is there someone out there that has the 4 led lights not effected by this recall.

What other color stickers are there for the H8's? It seems that all lights with the 4 led's are part of this recall, no?

Out of the 500 only 2 have had issues and maybe this recall isn't even needed but it's a good to know the vendor is taking care of their customers in preventing any (if any) failures. Just my 2 cents.

P.S. I will be going with the repair option as I think these are the brightest LED option out there (besides the OSS version). I had AiBs and Lux blows them out of the water.
mine messed up both headlights: agree they are handling this proactively now for customers doing a recall, .
it is/was a real pita and expect/ed more.

Marc,

So I ended up removing my LUX H8 from my E70 last night and inspected the power supply. I found no discoloration or anything wrong with them. The E70 headlight assembly is larger than E9X. So there is more room to tuck the power supply away from other heat sources in the head light assembly. Is the heat issue cause by just the LUX H8 power supply being left on continuously during operation or is it a combination of the headlights, outside ambient temperature and engine bay temps affecting the LUX H8 power supply? Do you know what temperature that power supply is rated for?

As for the covers of the headlight assembly, I don't see how you can pass 4 wires through to mount the power supply external to the headlight assembly without modifying the covers. The wires are a thicker gauge and if you put the cover on you wont be able to twist lock the cover without pinching the wires. I hope your solution can be done and prove me wrong. I took a couple of pics of the cover and back of the headlight of my E70.

I know this is a M3 forum but the E70 X5 forums is not very active and there is no section like this.

Can you please answer my questions? I love my LUX H8!

Thanks,

DaRip

I was really upset when i was reading the email they sent out. I was actually driving my car and was waiting for the lights to go green. after the email all i can think of was getting these off my car ASAP. I love my LUX H8's. honestly no other product is as good as them price wise and finish wise.

I got two sets, one for my father's X5 and the other one is for me. not sure what im going to do...i might repair mine and refund his. he kinda got annoyed that this had to happen.

well anyways...The guys are taking care of us in a very good way. so props to them.

This is just too much hassle, it takes me two hours to switch between bulbs ! Why can't NAmotorsport just switch what we bought with unaffected ones? They should have well thought about this problem before even selling their products to us.. FAIL!

If I was NAmotorsport, I would make it a point not to help you with your product AT ALL, given your above post.

Where are these other threads? Could you post links to them? I'd like to read everything that's been posted to date. I know a couple of people have asked this but I'll ask again, if only a certain batch has been affected, why not utilize a power supply from an unaffected batch? What is it about the affected batch that makes it more prone to failure?

There's one thread on E90post that I read last night. I don't know of any others.

Wow, no need to be so mean about this. As i have mentioned, this was something that i never expected to happen. I have spend lot of time and money to test out these light BEFORE i started selling these and never had a problem like this. Out of 1000+ power supplies only 2 have gone bad. therefor i'm taking a pro-active, professional, and caring approach to make sure this doesnt happen to anyone elses car.

I could have simply let this fly under the radar and never tell anyone about it!!! Many people have been grateful that I am being pro-active with everything, but apparently you dont see it that way, so i apologize.

I only started making these lights years about because people asked me to, i'm not out to get rich or make $$$. I enjoy seing people happy and like making these lights.

Maybe you should do a little research yourself before blowing up at me. I do this all myself in my free time.

although i dont have a set of LUX, i know a lot of people who dont have issues with it and i think being cautious by re-calling an entire batch and replacing it before anything happens to anyone's headlights is a good idea. props for being responsible and backing up your product. i can think of many vendors that would be happy to just keep it under the carpet and ignore the problems.

+1
I agree. I took mine out last night and shipped them out today for repair. I still think the LUX is the BEST unit on the market and my car looks sick with them installed.

I'm still wondering why my 6500K power supply read 1010 and a few others 6500K power supply reads 1014??
