Rogue Underdrive Pulley
Happy Tuesday!
I thought I'd send out a little write up of my newest go-fast part, for anybody who might be wondering. I haven't seen anyone on here with the Rogue pulley, so maybe this helps. Heads up though, It won't be like anything from Pencil Geek I decided on the Rogue pulley for a few reasons. 1) I Had Rogue goodies on my E36 M3 (bomb proof!) 2) They're right up the road from me. 3) It seemed to have the least aggressive diameter change vs the other pulleys out there, which I hoped might have the least effect on how the other belt driven thingys run. I got it right at the Rouge Shop. Ben was great and answered all my questions. As a bonus I got a peek at other parts coming soon, (Shifter looks super!) After the install I noticed a change right away. Not a tire-smokin' kind of change, but enough of a change to feel like I didn't blow my money. It changes the engine's attitude. Helga (my car) now feels really angry. It revs much easier than before, and the throttle is much more responsive. All temps and electronics are running better than ever. Rogue claims 8hp at the wheels. I can't really feel that, but I've seen the dyno chart, so I believe them. The pulley itself is the same color as stock, and totally hidden in the engine. It even uses the factory bolts. Even if they had the engine out of the car, a dealer probably wouldn't know it was there. Money well spent say I!!! Next up, a loud nasty exhaust to scare the yuppies. A few pulley pics |

It's also noted that the RE pulley properly retains the stock hex drive plate from the stock pulley.
Thanks for taking the time to post your review. The RE products are top notch, their e9x M3 exhaust will not disappoint either.

Did you do the install yourself? If so, how was it? Easy to get to?

Should be easy peasy as long as there are no access issues. Just a question of unbolting the old one and bolting in the new one.

This is intended to be a DIY, installation is about 90 minutes with simple hand tools.
New belts are included as well.

No, no, no. I'm not that tech savy Not that it's hard, I just couldn't rip the front end off myself. I had a shop here (Motor Works West) take care of it. They let me watch (I should have taken pics), and it looked pretty easy. FYI, the pulley also comes with pretty detailed directions. It looked fairly strait forward. The hardest part looked like taking off the fan shroud.

Motor Works West is a great shop. Fantastic crew. The only real Dinan dealer/installer in NJ, and BMW approved. But there is a bit of bad news, they charge $115 per hour in labor The pulley install was three hours. Ouchy!

Not sure I was on hold for 20 minutes so i decided to hang up. But if u go to rogue engineering, they have a list of retailers and bmw of manhattan is one of their new ones, so I assume so. But from what I hear u should have zero problems with these and are completely undetectable to the dealer anyway. MAyb this is why they chose to sell them. At least they can make money off of it.
What dealers should do if they were smart is offer warrantee on anything that is installed through them, of course to an extent. U cant install a turbo or supercharger, blow ur engine and expect them to warrantee it. But as far as bolt ons go, that would be smart. Like pulleys, exhaust, springs, coilovers, remaps, etc... I can guarantee u most ppl would b going to them |
