When is the dyno test? If it picks up 50 rwhp, I might be interested. Otherwise the fancy intake money stays in the supercharger fund.

That is an unrealistic expectation

Update

The airbox is installed. It is absolutely huge. While we were at it we installed:
-BW headers
-Cams
-Slonik DCT pan slonik

It's going for tuning next week

This will be the ultimate pump gas stock displacement build! Looking forward to the results. The cam tuning could require some time experimenting on the dyno.

Hopefully all this gets me somewhere! Hehe. It wasn't my intention to build what hopefully will be an ultimate build but I guess I accumulated all the parts so it was just a matter of installing them

It's going to a dyno and will spend as many hours there as needed. It will be tuned in person.

It's a pity it is so damn hot in the Northeast, the car will pull timing for sure

Once properly tuned I'll take it to a 3rd party dynojet where I have a baseline so we can see the delta

I still am! That xpipe is for the E92 that is a regular car with tune, dinan intake, pulleys and xpipe

The Bimmerworld LT headers came with a catted xpipe, but I figured why stop there and got a second LT header catless xpipe for the tuning portion.
So basically the Karbonius is installed in the first car I'll have operational which just happens to have gone 'all out'

Your build is amazing! I would love to do cams, especially when they come up with an answer for main bearings( replacement or that they aren't an issue)

Got it. You have two phenomenal e9x M3s

How’d the BW LT header and x-pipe install go (i.e., any hiccups/issues)? I’m seriously considering getting a set (w/ HFCs).

The header install was really easy but just because the engine was out of the car. Had to replace all the valve stem seals (different story)

The headers don't require cutting into the subframe support plate which is good

The xpipe came with secondary o2 sensor extenders but it turns out i needed front extenders, not rear ones.

Both the catted and decatted BW xpipes are very very nice. The cats are gesi so they won't be burning out anytime soon

well done. i didn't realize how huge it was... you can tell by comparing pics of this to the oem plenum... this thing just buries the oem firewall braces.

Yes, to install you have to remove the oem bracing then reinstall it

It is **huge**

Did you drop the engine out the bottom? On justvthe subframe or with the full suspension attached? I had to change from a 2 post to a 4 post lift at my new house and the 4 post has only 44” opening between the lift runners. I recall measuring the subframe at only 29” but that was without suspension arms going outwards.

I know it's a teeny tiny detail that doesn't matter but I like that this keeps all the same fresh air sources/paths as stock. It seems like you'd have to block off or otherwise find a way to manage the kidney intakes with the M24 kit or else you just have a dead air path into the engine bay with nowhere to escape but the hood vents

Engine out the bottom. I take it the subframe went out with the suspension but I'm not completely sure.

The car needed lots of work so we decided on an engine out job:
-Valve stem seals
-BW LT header install
-Cams
-Slonik pan
-SSP seal for side pan

All that can be done with the engine in the car but why bother?

That said, all the work was done by a proper BMW mechanic. I'm not DIYing valve stem seals...
If this generates power I'll do the BW LT headers and cams to the E92 as well. Regardless I'll do the Karbonius intake on the E92 as well.

If I do the cams and BW LT headers on the E92 I'll publish a couple DIYs for that. Cam timing and header install would be a nice addition to the current DIYs in my signature

So do I. I also like being able to use the stock filter or an aftermarket one
