My car is to be delivered to the dealer any day now. They will be installing the performance exhaust before I pick up the car.

Can you tell me if this was only a muffler or did it include some piping from the rear cats back? Also do they have to cut off your old muffler or does it unbolt?

Definatly an expense muffler then, I hope it sounds good! So to they cut the old one out? I had the performance exhaust on my 330i and it had to be cut out.

no cutting is needed. it bolts right in.. your OEM axle back is removable... in with the performance exhaust. also just incase... keep your stock if you ever decide to sell it cause oem exhaust sells for $150 here on m3post.com ... LOL...

Hey Sean,

Thanks for the replies. I hope it is removable like you said. The dealer said they have not installed one yet but they believed that you have to cut out the old one. Unbolting would be my preference.

Now I am more !

I have it. Comes with own pipes, no cutting required.

I recommend painting the cans flat black before mounting. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=540483 A little searching will show you how it can be a bit unattractive because the cans seem to be a bit bigger and visibly noticeable, yet not all that aesthetically pleasing like some aftermarket exhausts can be. (The pipes are gorgeous, though!)

Thank you guys. I was thinking of painting it black however the dealer is installing it so I get the full warranty on it incase there are any leaks, etc. My car is going to be AW so a black muffler may look out of place. So does it include all the pieces in the picture below? Will I be able to bring my stock muffler home in the trunk or will I need to go back with my truck to get it?

Your video is great, thanks for posting that. Way different sound. Why did BMW not do this to begin with??? Now that you have had it a while do you still like the sound?

I don't think it's necessary to paint it black. It only looks big if you stand back from behind the car and bend down low. Otherwise every other angle all you see is the tips. The sound is by far the best on the market for axle back only.

you don't need a truck, I was able to fit mine in the trunk with the seats down, just get some wrapping so you don't stain your seats. I have an e92

actually when your driving behind it, it freaking shows. 2 big bulky muffler. which is the reason why i hate the performance exhaust, dont get me wrong its one of the best sounding exhaust but its just bulky.

painting it black would be a good idea.

I have the performance exhaust on my car. While the Performance one comes in a box in the pieces pictured, the stock is one solid piece. Stock will fit in the back seat/trunk of an E92 if you drop the seats. E93 it fits with the top down.

Make sure you ask the dealer for your old part back, as some have said -- they try to keep them, in my experience.

LOVE my performance exhaust.

I ran M3s with and without the performance exhaust at the track this week. The Exhaust sounds awesome, nearly no drone and on the track the car sounds completely different. That's the good news, bad news I didn't feel much of a performance boost.

Thanks guys, I have an E90 coming in so it should be no problem then. I am more pleased that they are not going to cut up my piping like we had to in my old E90.

New Century BMW. I was told they have sold a few of them just have not installed one. So I maybe the first . Since it is a direct bolt on it should be simple and I could have done it but I just wanted to get the 4/50 warranty on it just in case.

I've got it ... painted the canisters flat black and removed the paint from the inside of my tips, since they started to peel.

Sounds great especially on the track.

Hands down, a major improvement. Like someone said, this should have been the stock exhaust. At a discounted price, it's really not that much more than other systems and with NO side effects. Fits perfectly, sounds great! Wasn't expecting more power, and yes, the big can is big, but it matches stock. Plus I wasn't sure about having a huge cavity where the stock one was. Overall, I think it was worth every penny. I didn't paint it either, looks just like it did stock except with nicer tips. What's a good polish for the tips?
