Could be. When I talked to my dealer they also instructed me not to sell mine to a private party either.

hahaha - ok

Silly dealers - they don't want to be cut out as the middle man.

If you are concerned, simply get a recall check done by your local dealer. They should know if the car is blocked for sales. If not, then simply include in your sales agreement to the private party that they are assuming the car as is, and any responsibilities for repair, recalls, etc... is not your responsibility.

Paid $30,000 for my 2008, bought October 16th 2015;
28,453 miles when I bought it
Carfax mileage Breakdown:
6/23/08-1,203
2/3/12-5,122
8/27/15-28,023

Premium package
Extended leather
Cold weather package
19in competition wheels
Sunroof
Complete invisible bra(even on door handles, back fenders, full front)

When I got it from a local Ford Dealership it had to have 2 O2 sensors replaced, done at the BMW dealer across the street. Luckily they were under Ford dealer 90 day warranty to the tune of $3,000 worth of work (think they wanted to soak Ford, I didn't pay, didn't care). I had it in the BMW dealership, they gave it the ol' one two, nothing else wrong. Ford dealership where I bought it had put in an after market oil filter, had that replaced at BMW. I changed a brake light bulb this past weekend. No problems since, I love this car.

FIRST POST!

Hey all!

Where are you guys finding these deals? I live in the DC metro area and put out a search within a 200 mile radius. All the 6MT E92 M3 Coupes that have about 50k on the clock are going for $40,000+...

I had to expand my search and pay for shipping for the right car. Look in the for sale section of this forum. There are deals to be had, and also cars owned by enthusiasts who I've found care more than your turn and burn lease owners.

Add another 0 to your search radius.

The market/demand in DC is definitely higher than some parts of the US. I flew to Michigan to pick mine up last year. Goodluck!

Did you see the car first in person or bought unseen?

Lots of variables for each purchase not disclosed that could affect price: region, #of owners, accidents, trade-in, et al

I bought the car through a small, private dealer that marketed it on this forum. I had an independent BMW dealer complete a PPI, which came black clean. also spoke to both the mechanic who did the inspection and the sales manager who dealt with the car - they said the car was in great shape and they supported buying it. Never saw the car before it was shipped about 600 miles to my door. The car arrived in excellent condition and has been a blast to drive. Good luck!
