I think he's trying to say that they only have access to 91 octane gas where he's located. Because of that there's only so much head room for tuning. With E85 it's basically race gas so the sky's the limit.

You'll never see a boosted setups true potential on 91 octane gas.

If I remember correctly the pulley on the supercharger is too small already. Our only hope is a modified crank pulley.

Which may require underdrive pulleys for the accessories, to the extent there is room for bigger accessory pulleys. It’s been done on other cars.

Only a larger crank pulley will be required. The water pump will be slightly over driven which wouldn't be a bad thing, and the alternator will vary load on the crank depending on voltage and IBS monitoring requests. The power steering and A/C are run off the second accessory belt IIRC.

Pretty sure he has mentioned that he did a NBT EVO retrofit. A cheaper alternative would be to use a Unichip CarPlay device:

Full Evo retrofit, in the e90 and e70 as well... and about 10 more of them sitting on the shelf for the last year... not enough hours in the day!

Kit questions

Hi all, just added a 2007 E92 Mw with a harrop kit to my garage. Liking it a lot.

I have an andriod retrofit on my CCC unit loaded with the Torque app for live OBD2 data. I noticed the Torque app has displays for manifold pressure and was playing with this to try and see boost but it stopped at 3psi. I am not sure if the Siemens MSS60 reads positive manifold pressure, I was told otherwise by someone familiar with the kit, who also suggested the flash for the harrop uses positive pressure from stock sensors for mapping, but I thought it was all alpha-n based from the above posts, but could be misunderstanding.

I was trying to measure boost as the car feels a bit weaker than I thought it would, and will try attaching a boost gauge to confirm the boost footprint. If I understand I should see a build up to 6.5psi at around 4000rpm. What kind of positive boost should be seen at low RPMs, around 2-3000rpm?

the bypass seems to move linearly with throttle position when the ignition is on so I think its working properly. The kit is fairly recent generation (about 18months from manufacture) so it should have the latest bypass controller and software, so not sure if the bypass procedure described earlier (unplugging with ign on for 20 seconds) is still applicable.

any advice appreciated.
Thanks

The stock MAP sensor was designed for an NA application and won't be useful in determining real-time boost pressure.

Attach a boost gauge to the 1/8" NPT fitting on the side of the plenum to read pressure.

The weather has still been terrible here, but two Stage II upgrades have been sent from overseas, one destined for Colorado for some higher altitude testing.

Is this a new supercharger design, or only a soft ware upgrade - be great if it is the latter (?).

Change of injectors, software, and pulley only. The supercharger and main hardware will remain the same between stages.

Do you know how soon (?) - I just bought mine, and it’s currently being installed.

That's good to hear, hopefully it will be ready soon. Are you adding a MAP sensor that can read boost? The transition to boost at low RPM with the alpah-n mapping is the one thing that I don't like on the Harrop kit, was hoping that might get addressed.

What size injectors are they running and how much boost?

Also, I take it they will be only providing a larger crank pulley, and accessories are ok to be over driven?

Thanks.
