Is this possibly only for US Spec cars? I have a Canadian 2013 E92 (May 2013 Build) and I'm able to turn off the DSC through the M-Drive menu as well as holding the button down for 3 seconds. The car also has the Competition Pack, so maybe that has something to do with why it can be turned off in the menu.

DSC off mode works fine on my 2011.5 car. It can be turned off in the M-drive settings as well. It does issue some warning on the dashboard, though.
I find it humorous that for the past 30 years I've been perfectly able to drive cars of all power levels without traction control and now I find myself thinking twice about turning these nannies off. Like the car is gonna kill me or something. I mean are we getting soft or what? My first car (at 17) was a '70 Dodge Charger R/T with a built 440 Magnum and a pistol grip 4-speed-- and I never wrecked that. Lots of great burn-outs and slides without an issue back then, but now I feel like a rascal doing anything beyond a tire chirp. Gettin' old sux... |

Our tarmac rally development mule 2008 Aus delivered i.e. euro-spec E92 M3 has MDrive and euro MDM however we had no DSC options in MDrive, all other options present. This was unique so after speaking to some top platform tuners without success, we decided to 'go it alone' and set up for NCS coding ourselves. On this platform (2008 CCC) we found in the CAPPL ECU the option of 'DSC' which was set to Nicht_Aktiv but no DSC_IN_MDRIVE option, which may be present in later CIC versions. So setting DSC to Aktiv has brought back DSC and MDM selection in MDrive as well as the ability to turn DSC both off and on. Interestingly we saw there was also options for just 'MDrive' in this module as well as MDrive_ABV which were both set to Nicht_Aktiv. We left these as they were (After all, in Aus we say if it ain't broke, don't fix it). Someone may have some feedback on this but we're just happy we can use MDM now for damp conditions. |
