Just ordered them. Now NGK has none in stock.

3-5 days before they ship. (If they ever ship) It’s quite possible they send me an email back saying no longer available.

We now have an engine that required unicorn horn coils.

I ordered some Duralast via autozone, blech. Rumor has it they are Bosch.

Gonna give it a try.

I wonder if it’s worth waiting for rock auto to get more.

But it seems to me like the price is just going to go up on all coils now for s65
Yup, rockauto has been selling NGK coils for a few years now, nothing new.
Just new to M3post I guess since most people buy OEM from FCP.

They always restock so don't be alarmed.

Aug 2018 I ordered this kit from FCP:

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...-12137841754kt

I paid $642.14 shipped to my door. The current price is $1334 more than what I paid. We are getting shafted hard....

Could this be the first sign of the e90 m3 value increasing?

E39 m5 prices have sky rocketed.

And the s65 is a much better engine, in a superior chassis. Not to mention, the last naturally aspirated V8 ever practically.

Eventually I think you’ll need $20,000 to purchase, even a high mile e90 m3.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a core charge get refunded when you send back the old part?

Just write up a quick ionic knock sensing program to handle that?

I just ordered from NGK direct, we will see if they ship. I figured I would replace them with the plugs.

Y'all overthinking this, a small shortage of coils doesn't mean they aren't going to be around.

NGK is constantly manufacturing them and a few other smaller brands are too.

The URO/Chinese ones work fine if you get lucky, but if you want to extra careful then yes Bosch and NGK is the way to go.

For the S65, I don’t think I would use a coil that is not BMW or the original equipment manufacturer due to the ionic knock sensing. Anyone with more knowledge of how that works have any input?

...subscribing for updates...

Crossing my fingers this is a temporary spike in price due to some kind of shortage. Happens all the time with stuff.

Bosch is out of stock nationwide unless you can find a store with some still on the shelf.

Coils from the dealer are the only ones that will have the BMW licensing on them.

Our shop has had problems with cars that have come in with DIY installed Chinese/Uro coils. They have a spotty reputation. We replace them with Genuine/Bosch/Eldor which always fixes the issue.
