$250 for an OE BMW Coil?? WTH?

What makes these coils so different that BMW wants approx $250 each?

Is the s65 the only one that uses them or something? I’m used to others costing much less. I always buy original parts but this seems pretty high to me.

Anyone have experience with other brands?

I searched but didn’t see any info. It looks like they used to cost $85-90.

Looks like there's a core charge now. Ecstuning and fcpeuro includes a core charge. Still a lot of money for a coil.

Don't bother with OEM unless you can get them at a steal price, BOSCH or NGK is the way to go.

Wow. This is bad news.

Only thing my car still has that’s original is coil packs...

This is ridiculous. $240.00!+ $75 core charge?

Turner Motorsport has Bosch. And is on backorder.

RockAuto has NGK. But only one left.

I’m going to call BMW tomorrow and see what the cost will be with my account.

I assume $200 each with my discount, and cores turned in.

Hopefully they didn’t stop making Bosch coils for good.

Kinda like they stopped making Rein water pumps

This is going to make rod bearings replacement look cheap.

When did they change the price?

The genuine ones have always been under $130.

Why has the price gone up? And had the price gone up on any other parts?

Where do we get NGK coils??

Is NGK just as good, or better than Bosch?

I know the plugs on our cars are NGK. Not sure what the coils are.

I would think NGK could make more so the price shouldn't shoot up like the OE BMW ones look like they are doing. The NGK ones (from the pics) have BMW stamped on them so I'd assume they are what originally came with the car

I have a commercial account at autozone as well.

And NGK/ Bosch both on back order.

I guess I’ll order the NGKs now, even though I don’t need to replace mine.

Not a fan of spending $2000 on coils when the time comes.

I would try to get as exact a match as possible since the knock sensing is ionic through the plugs. If knock was through knock sensors, any replacement coil would probably be fine.

That’s a no on NGK?

Someone is ordering them.

Because when I add 8 to my cart, it doesn’t say In-stock anymore!

Only with 7 it says in stock. But 8 were in stock 20 minutes ago.

What is happening!?

The NGK ones show the Stamped engraving on the NGK website. But on rock auto , it doesn’t have an engraving. And it’s the same exact part#.

Most likely it won’t have a stamped engraving unless it’s coming from bmw.

Rockauto NGK is also stamped.
My friend just ordered the last 8 that were in-stock, only 1 left now.

So he already received them. That’s awesome.

I wonder if it’s worth waiting for rock auto to get more.

But it seems to me like the price is just going to go up on all coils now for s65
