Sounds really good, I'm glad the exhaust tips look good too. Was hoping they'd give us an option on those, but the turner ones are good quality.

Hoping to get mine installed Sunday. Been cold here so we will see.

Here are some install notes and General overview…

The instructions mention test fitting the connecting pipes before hand and that you might need to give some taps to the flange if the pipe doesn't slid in easily. I had to on one side but no big deal.

The instructions from Turner are very accurate. Remove your current exhaust, next run the vacuum hose. I followed the route in the instructions. There is a white plastic tube that runs the length of the car to the engine bag. I followed that and zip tied to it, running under the felt splash shield along the drivers side. Very easy, plenty of space.

Turners instruction photos show their vacuum line sticking out between the aluminum exhaust heat shield, I tried that but felt like it was going to pinch the rubber hose, so instead I drilled some 3/16" holes and zip tied my line to that same shield but on the edge.

The muffler needs no adjusting, everything went together perfectly first try and was straight. That made the exhaust tips easy to install. I used the edge of the bumper as a reference point for spacing the exhaust tips and that created the staggered look and a good looking amount of protrusion. See photo for reference. I imagine this saved me a bunch of time adjusting.

Sound - I still need to hook up the power, so I'm running valves closed. The tone sounds more exotic/howl vs my Supersprint which was very deep. It is definitely louder than stock but very tame under normal driving and zero drone. Way quieter than my SuperSprint F1 Race. Absolutely no drone. It will be nice to have this option now since I am daily driving my M3. I'll report back once I finish the valve hookups with another video and comments.

Happy to hear valves closed is no drone. Like you, I bought this to really have best of both worlds and have a no drone experience at the click of a button when I want it. Excited to see what party mode sounds like

If the vacuum lines are not hooked up, does this default to valves closed? Will the valves shift over time if not hooked up to vacuum? Wondering if I can run this for a while without hooking up the vacuum lines with it in valves closed mode. Thanks!

Yeah. Mine came with valves closed so if you just throw it on the car without the vacuum lines and controller connected, they will just stay closed

That's a great help, thanks! Do you see the valve position changing over time if vacuum is not hooked up or is it pretty secure?

It's solid, I dont see it opening on it's own. There is a nut you can tighten periodically to make sure on the actuator. Also actuators are designed to fail open or closed so if it did fail, it would end up in whatever position it was designed to default to when it fails. I dont know what position that would be off hand but I would guess closed?

you guys are looking to deep into how the valves work, it just a spring loaded butter fly valve that is held open by the vacuum pump. if there is no pressure you cannot open it. you can test it, but you can't keep it open with out the pump being run to keep it open.

Mine just came in today chicagob5 is right, their packaging and system are top notch; really well-made. Can't wait to throw this on the car.

I figured I'd do the hard parts first. May not be able to finish install until next weekend. I do have a newbie question to ask; it's my first time tapping into vacuum. Traditionally I'm more of an R&R/ diagnose guy, haven't really modified much.

I want to use the brake booster line under the cowl but that hose is considerably larger than the lines and three-way tap provided by the kit, can I just drill a hole in the side of the line and seal it up or will I not get sufficient amounts of vacuum this way? Once again I totally get how dumb I sound, at best it'll give some of you a good laugh.

Was using this post as a reference as it's the same application.

https://www.m3post.com/forums/attach...8;d=1427378398

Edit: Just to close the loop, I'm going to buy the proper fittings for that size line and reduce it the three way to the turner line size unless I find a better source.

You can tap into that but you've arrived at the correct conclusion, you need a good seal. I am going to run to the plenum area because it looks easy enough.

Where are you planning to mount the solenoids and controller and where are you planning to feed into the cab to get to the fuse box? I'll be finishing this final part of the install this week when I have time. Thus far I've run the vacuum hose and just have it sitting under the cowl until I make the connections.

A week after install and still love the sound with valves closed. Definitely has some of that OEM howl (I would describe as less muscle, more euro/exotic). Near stock under normal driving and sounds like a mild aftermarket exhaust under aggressive driving. I crawled under the car to check all connections after 500 miles and everything was still torqued to spec so I am good to go, with. I signs of exhaust leak at the connections.

I noticed Turner has a Universal Straight Cut, Single Wall Tip. I'm going to suggest they offer a drop down for the tips when ordering, and am going to see if they'll allow me to swap. I just prefer the single wall straight cut look because it looks a little more racey imo.

Bimmer Barney I actually went down the rabbit hole a bit since this morning. I' think I'm not going to tap from my engine anymore. Im going to wire in a 12v basic vacuum pump to run vacuum independently. I'd rather take vacuum leaks and fault codes out of the equation completely.

Im going to mount all the components in the trunk (near the flat tire pump area) and run a dedicated wire(s) to the fuse box via a piggy back. Still working out the specifics and amp draw but as it sits now I'm staying out of the engine bay.

I'm with you in the exhaust tips, they're gigantic. I may be interested in swapping as well.
