Here is the only dramatic moment I managed to capture (do not run camera much - only use GPS logger) - I'm in the black car:

Does not look like much, but it was soaking wet, and the wall is sooo close to the track. I envy most of you guys - no walls around tracks, not much rain or snow. Well, soon enough (moving to Nor. Cal.)

Your poor rear tires...

No wonder you don't need a BBK, you're always sideways!

Here's a save at Thunderhill T1. This was my first time up there and was working on carrying more speed through T1... that lap I turned too late... lots of fun ... fast left turn at ~80MPH sideways.

Unfortunately the results of lots of practice I normally don't like going sideways at high speeds (for me means anything over 70MPH) but this one was surprisingly with not much drama... kept going like nothing happened. The key, as I'm sure you know is to fight the urge to lift. You can see from the data overlay that I kept on the throttle. I'm pretty sure it would have ended differently if I had lifted... especially with a rear engine car like this GT3.

This is awesome. May i ask what you did to acquire these skills?

Actually to everyone, any specific events, schools you guys went to or is this just from learning by driving on (and getting off) track?

Im thinking going forward, any track day I go to will be in the beginner group with dsc off and learning car control rather than going for speed/times.

Thanks again Jean! Awesome brakes on that car and very nice driving. Was fun watching you, almost like in slow motion, feeling the backend coming out and correcting while staying on throttle (Off-Ramp, Sweeper, etc).

And, damn, how cool that car stays, whereas the M3's constantly wanna blow up due to extreme temp!

Ahhh, so that's what I can expect with the "nanny" turned off. Nice save...I need a lot more seat time before I feel daring enough to turn off auto save in my car.

Great thread, I've enjoyed all the videos. There are plenty of moments I'm happy to forget, but here's a couple from the past year or so that stand out in my memory...

Is the first one little bend at Cresson?

Yeah, it was. I had gotten a late point by and came into it with a strange line I think. I've spun countless times during autocross, but so far never on a road course

Odd...I've been sideways or off in every corner on the 1.7...except for little bend.

My most frequent turn for the oh shits is riccochet going CCW...especially in the wet on the 3.1. Its like ice!

Some amazing... and terrifying... saves in this thread. Watching how well some of you react and correct gives me something to strive for.

Also, kudos bigjae for the detailed thought process on page 1. I knew about pointing the tires in the direction you want to go, but the undulating water analogy is fantastic. I'll have to remember that next time things get a little nutty.

seems like most are more comfortable drifting the car in lefts than rights. i am the same. skidpad work last week watched a guy nose to the cone go around at least a dozen revolutions counterclockwise with no issue and struggle going clockwise.

Most tracks are run CCW only. I run 2 tracks better CW and 1 better CCW. I might have to do some analysis on that. I would GUESS that it would vary depending on your comfort of car placement on your right side. I've noticed since I started instructing that some will not get very close to the edge of the track on the right side.

i would even go further and say most dont get close on either side but particularly the right. its something i am working on a little right now. giving away some of my cushion in braking zones so that i am set up perfectly for maximum speed thru the turn rather than giving myself an out. both longitudianaly and laterally.
