How bad is this hood paint? Is that clear coat cracking?

The paint on the hood has a cracked pattern. The rest of the body has some swirl marks but is overall in good shape. This spot seems to be from the heat of the engine and I wonder if others here have seen the same thing. Is this a paint correction and respray bwith clear?

I cannot imagine a factory finish doing that. Has to be a respray.

I suspect the hood was respirated at some point. Rest of the paint looks fine. I’m not too concerned with it, but just confirmation it ain’t gonna buff out.

Well, if you "buff" it with 500 grit...then YES...it'll buff out...

Doesn't hurt to try. Might not be perfect but should show some improvement.

Certainly looks like a bad re-spray. Someone got a cheap job and it wasn't prepped or cured properly. Don't waste your time trying to repair. Jump straight to repainting. Properly this time
