Go with the Cups if you drive extremely aggressively, or better yet want the most traction on the track while still being road legal. If you aren't tracking, or just want a tire to last more than 10k miles, get the 4S's. Btw, for the occasional track day, especially starting out, 4S's will do great. That way you can just have one tire set up for street and track use.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Here's my two cents:
I have had MANY different tire brands on my BMWs. Best overall? Michelin Pilot Super Sports. HOWEVER, i have been running hankook ventus v12's on my newest car, and love them. They are significantly cheaper to buy, and from what ive seen, will last longer. I just ordered a new set of forgestar wheels with hankook ventus v12 tires and am running 295/30/19 rears and 265/30/19 in the front after being advised from the guys at EAS (thanks Kevin!!!). My car right now has ventus v12 on stock wheels, and it handles fantastic. Road noise is almost exactly the same as the michelins, but you can tell they are a little less grippy in wet weather, which is not a big deal to me since i only drive my car on occasion. Not a fan of bridgestones. Seemed loud, and for the money, you could do better. The continental contact DWs i had were horrible. I had a set on my m3 and 335i and both were terribly loud (even my wife made a comment while on the freeway). If you need a budget tire, i put a set of kumho ecsta tires on my wife's lexus is250 and have been pleased with them. They are noisy, but have lasted a long time. I really only bought them because she cant stay off curbs, and i was replacing birdgestones every 3 months or so. Hope that helps! |

The reports I have read of the V12 is that they harden with age, like the PSS and most tires, get loud, and lose performance. If you drive enough to burn through them in 2 years, this is not an issue. I always find new tires to be an improvement over the old tires I remove.
If you don’t drive much, report back in 4 years whether you still like them. I really like the Conti EC Sport. Have them on 2 cars that ran PSS before. I liked the PSS but did not think they were exceptional. I find the EC Sport just as good for daily driving and they are a little cheaper. I have been through 3 sets of PSS and 3 sets of EC Sport (combined on my E61 535xi and E90M3). |

Hi guys. Looking for a new set of tires too. Any recommendations on tires with a rim guard, all season? Looking to get 285/30/19 and 245/35/19. Hopefully there will be Black Friday deals coming up for the holiday on tires.

That said, I use all seasons as my primary off the track tire. Toyo and they're nothing special, but they help deter me from driving like an asshole on the street. And I'm addicted to the track which has ruined just cruising around Colorado anyhow. 😕

I was running oem size ps4s now am running the new bfgoodrich comp 2 a/s plus all season in 255/35/19 and 275/35/19 they definitely are not as smooth, I feel the road much more but they are more planted and traction control comes on much less. Probably because of the larger size and it's colder out. However for the price I am very happy with these tires and they look super aggressive. Bfgoodrich is owned by michelin as well. They are only W rated so I wouldnt go over 168 mph for a sustained period with them either.
