Looking into a sedan...issues?

First post here on the M boards... use to have a 135i but got rid of it and picked up a c6 corvette after all of the third brake light and HPFP issues...

I am now looking for something with a back seat again and 4 doors but also want a high powered v8 similar to what I am now use to with the vette(I know its a totally different car)...

So now its between the obvious a cts-v or an m3 sedan... I really did like everything about my 135i and bmw in general so I am coming back to the dark side...

The big question I have is are there any ongoing major problems/issues similar to the HPFP I should be worried about on an e90 m3??

Buddy try and test drive a 4 door. Or go to the next car meet and see if you can let one of the guy test drive the car.

I sold my C6 and have an E90 M3 on order. The E90 M3 does not the the neck snapping acceleration that you are use to with the Vette. The M3 is smooth where the Vette is wild. I actually feel more confident driving the M3 because it is so smooth.

I also looked at the CTS-V. As you know, it is called the 4 door Vette. Most people on this board will slam the CTS-V. Not me, it is a great car.

Ultimately, it came down to which car would I say - Shit I could have had a ____ instead of the car I bought.

My answer was M3.

The M3 does not have any issues like the HPFP. If you are going to pull the trigger on an E90 M3, do it soon. Word is: production is going to end sometime in mid / late 2011 and we will not see another M3 Sedan.

I have a perfectly running E90 M3 after 18 months. By the way, the M3 engine is a naturally-aspirated V8 engine. The HPFP associated with the N54/N55 engine on the 335i and 135i does not exist on the S65.

I switched from the 135i after 2 fuel pumps and 3 runflat replacements...I much prefer the M3 sedan. I worried about the size issue but the E90 doesn't feel bigger. I've had no problems except a windshield cracked by a rock.

No major issues here, doors creak, that seems to be a E90 issue,

Only problem with a four door is that you might have to pick up and/or take people places... f that, no friends, solo all day, get paper. LOL.

I don't get what the big deal is with having passengers.

I personally hate having to ride shotgun or sitting cramped up in the back. As the driver, I'm in control. Plus I get gas money from passengers so my lead foot is happy.

Love the proportions on the sedan... very awesome car to drive.. taller drivers may have difficulty getting in/out without rubbing the side bolsters..

no issues... but only at 9500... I am loving every single second with this car... I find any stupid reason to go out and drive... Even if it is just to go buy gas... I go missing for an hour at times when the gas station is two blocks away.

The M3 was the only car from BMW to shine in terms of reliability in the current BMW lineup in a current issue of Roundel. Overall BMW ranks right down there at the bottom these days with Dodge (25th out of 27) based on that piece. The M3 is a solid performer and uses old-fashioned and reliable port-injection.

What does that have to do with considering a four door?

Bought mine new just over two years ago after owning an E34 M5, 2 E36 M3s and an E46 M3. At first I wanted the coupe (I really like the CF roof), but amazing deals were available in Toronto on the sedans. It has turned out to be the best move ever. This is an amazing alround family / track car!@! Fast as hell and still quite convenient to run around town with 2 or more passengers or to go on long weekend trips!

No issues with the car after 55,000 km other than a few typical i-drive gremlins.

Go for it!

I had to have my transmission replaced, I have heard of at least one other person with this issue. I'd have to say I'm perfectly satisfied with my E90 M3 in all respects. I test drove a C63 (not a CTS-V) and it was blisteringly fast but felt heavy and very rough ride, all in all after test driving the M3 the C63 was a big disappointment.

No mechanical issues. 08 with 24k miles. Tint scratching on sedans, driver's mirror creaks when door opens. Otherwise perfect.
