M3 stolen with OBD key cloning :(
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I believe BMW has a firmware update [details here] to fix the OBD port when your car is locked. So would advise you to get that booked it asap. Have really lost faith in BMW now, which is such a shame because i loved the M3. To make matters worst, BMW warranty won't even give me a refund for the remainder of the 6 months I had left as I made a claim this year in May. Part of their policy apparently. Now looking to get a C63 AMG. Here's some footage from my CCTV. Part 1 - Cloning my key! Part 2 - Taking my car! Dan |

That sucks man! Sorry to hear...
Is there a way to find out what VIN's are affected by this ODB issue? Is there a fix for it?

Sorry to hear.
For those curious, BMW is updating cars for free in the UK at this point to fix the vulnerability but not in the states. Apparently the "dead zone" in the factory alarm is only in effect for RHD vehicles. Though if you don't have an alarm any way, it doesn't really matter. It is ridiculous that BMW is not covering an update on LHD vehicles right now, I guess it's because there have been no reports of this occurring in the States, yet. I saw this thread and thought maybe finally it had happened over here. |

Is that just coding or a software update?
