No but i am still running motul 10w60 with no issues just changed my oil again a few months ago.. I read an earlier post on the thickness and am thinking of switching to Castrol Supercar. I have always had great experiences with all Castrols oil but at the same time every car i have ever put motul in is always smoother. Porsches, Hondas, Audis, etc. Their gear oils too are incredible. I trust motul!
I think.of HTHS of film strength too. Castrol supercar and Motul on paper have almost identical viscosity but motul has higher hths which leads me to think it offers more protection. I am no expert i am going by my experiences with oil and feeling how my car performs. I will also say motul 5w40 xcess makes my porsche purr much more and run better than mobil 1 0w40 or 5w50 or castrol 5w40 I love motul. I would guess they have additives that other oils don't use. Motul seems to be at the cutting edge with their european oils like 5w40 and 5w30. Motul is more expensive though too. Lot of tuners recommend motul like APR and Cobb. Castrol 0w30 has them beat though. Thats a top oil for that viscosity. I run 0w30 castrol in my f80 in the winter and 5w40 excess in summer Another thing.. i notice on Motuls oil descriptions they have many oils that they call "Lubricants" not even using the word oil. Seems that some of their oils are so synthetic and high tech that they don't even classify as oil such as their 5w40 excess gen2. Last edited by Headhunter.M3; 12-27-2020 at 03:02 PM.. |

Stick with BMW or Castrol 10w60.
IMHO, only Motul worth considering over OE approved 10w60s are 300V for engine oil and competition gear oil for the transmission and the M differential.
