1M Style Bumper installation issues HELP

Bought the 1M Style Bumper from LTBMW

The the ducts that came with the bumper is either MISSING the top half or needs modification.
I say it maybe missing the top half is because as you can see, there are tabs on the end that indicate to me that something clamps to it.

The problem is that the ducts channel air up to the air filter on our original ducts....
BUT on the 1M ducts is only "HALF" of our original duct...

Do i need to cut the top half off the original duct and mold it to the 1M duct or what?

i appreciate it if THE TECH could chime in or ANYONE with this bumper installed could guide me

see pics

pic#2 The tabs of the 1M duct

pic#4 looking from behind the bumper. the problem is the duct does not channel air up (missing something?)

I just used the 1M ducts. Even though it doesnt go all the way through it works fine. I feel no difference. The airbox extends low enough to suck in the cold air that the 1M partially feeds it.

Wish I could help. When I installed mine, I didn't modify ANY parts. I decided that if the thing didn't fit well enough as-is that I didn't want my car hacked up. I had to make a few brackets to get the 1M parts to fit as best as possible.

I'll see if I can take a couple pics if the rain stops here.

Thanks TECH
I'm standing by for those pics.

It will help a lot

The body shop has ordered the ducts from BMW for the 1M to see if its missing something from LTBMW.

Meanwhile I told them I would hit y'all up to see what everyone else has done.

These guys are in the UK and sell the the same style bumper, and it sells w/ducts. If you can't get info on the ducts for your bumper, you might want to hit them up and see if they sell something custom w/their unit....might work the for LT variant.

My guess is that you will be in the same boat as me. You'll need to half-ass it to get it to work since it's "custom".

Yeah you would think so according to the grim reports that I was getting leading up to today. Luckily we've just gotten rain + thunder/lightning. I really hate this place.

For this reason alone I would never buy that bumper. The m3 comes with a fantastic cold air intake system. This bumper compromises it. On top of that i don't like how it looks (my opinion which doesn't matter ). No thanks.

OK guys...here is the UPDATE

I talked with LTBMW...they say that the bumper DOES come with the top-half of the 1M duct but they just throw away cuz no body uses it due to it not fitting.
Longtran did say that on request, they have modified it for some customers...but the majority does without the modification and calls it good to go.

My guess...they just have a shit ton of the top-halfs laying around in their shop.

My body shop here went ahead and ordered the original 1M duct in order to get the top-half...
it arrived and it does fit...

So now they are adding to it using the OEM bumper's duct to have it connect to the air box.

I will post pics

stay tuned...

Here is the fix for those of us who have this 1M Style Bumper...

Pic #1 & 2: photos of the original 1M duct (top & bottom half). But top-half is cut to be modified with original M3 duct.

Pic #3, 4 & 5: the 1M duct & M3 duct molded together

Pic #5: looking into the wheel well at un-installed modified duct. you can see at the top of the pic, the bottom part of the air box, where we must channel this air

Pic #6: modified duct installed
