Headlight upgrade cost?

Hey everyone,
Hope you all are well during these times. I've always wanted to upgrade the headlights in my E92 M3. I got quoted:

$1100

DTM Rings
Eyebrow
Lci blinker
New lenses

Shipping back my old headlights after new ones arrive. What are you thoughts on the price? Never experiment with headlights before so wanted to get your opinion. Thank you!

Price is good if reputable work.

I paid that much just for new lenses ($200), ZKW clear projectors ($50), and Osram CBIs ($175) all installed. It’s a bit of labor to open these lights up versus E46M design. However BayOptiks does great work and I’m happy with the finished product, they look factory new and perform like a generation newer.

I agree with wyatth here (whatup man, thanks for that bump the other day) in that you want to focus on reputable work. If you research enough, you'll find there are really only about a half-dozen folks you should be considering for our cars, BayOptiks being one of them. If you are too price focused, you may be disappointed in what you end up with which will be really expensive to do anything about at that point. I suggest to go with a reputable installer and plan for that cost.

I agree with what others above have said - you don't want to overpay of course, but the focus should be finding someone who does reputable work. I've seen some real headlight retrofit hack jobs on this site over the years.

BayOptiks has a good reputation on this site from what I've seen, however the rings they use seem way oversized IMO.

My retrofit was done by OneEighty. I paid about $1500 as I recall for the following work:

Black out corner housing
Painted shrouds w/ OEM style projector text
LED corner light delete
Euro clear lens
Clear cornering lens
LED rings
New OEM outer lenses

I wouldn’t touch these with a 10 foot pole. To put these in perspective a new set of lenses alone are about $150 - $200. So realistically these have $200 in parts on them for everything else. I would not roll the dice on these. Seen too many pictures from my E46 days of cheap lights and angel eyes, melting, resistor boxes melting plus leakage with cheap seals. If you want a nice light setup you gotta pay to play. Watch a DIY and you will see why they cost so much, it’s not easy. As everyone mentions, Oneeighty, BayOptiks etc.

My buddy AW335OME did my headlights for me. He runs @specialemotorworks on IG. Very reasonable prices for the kind of build and the quality is top notch.

My build is:
BavGruppe 3/4 cut DTM rings
LED Switchback Eyebrow
Full blackout
New OEM Lenses
