The compromise was getting an E93 instead of a 997TT cab for three times the price.

My #1 pick was Melbourne Red. Second choice was Interlagos Blue. It had to be an E90, and a litany of other requirements. No reds showed up, a blue one did and I jumped. I have no regrets as I have not seen a car since I would have rather purchased and at the price I paid. I haven't seen a red one I would have chosen either.

Non-gray scale cars for the win.

My number 1 pick was Dakar or another individual color. Came close to pulling the trigger on two, but didn’t want to mess with a Canadian import and the other wasn’t in good enough condition. Also tried to get my dream AW with Red interior but the seller ghosted me. Ultimately ended up with my third choice at a great price thanks to trading in at a local dealer. Got Mineral White which I prefer over AW and black interior. Plus a bunch of extra Carbon Fiber and mods I wouldn’t have wanted to shell out cash for myself. All-in all I’m happy with my decision. Although I would love to have a second one at some point in the perfect spec LSB, Santorini, or Dakar yellow if funds come available.

I wanted Alpine White on Fox Red and got a Silverstone on Silverstone.. Also preferred a 6MT but I have no regrets.

Would have preferred slicktop but a manual red e90 with speed cloth, chances of finding a slicktop are not very high. Thankfully ZCP is meaningless to me.

I compromised very slightly on price (about AU$2k) because I found the perfect spec. 2011 E90, EDC, M Drive, Heated Seats, light interior.

Helped it from a dealer (so it included a brief statutory warranty from the dealer) not 2 mins from my house!

Compromised 2 seats for 4 seats.

Instead of a 2009 Porsche 911 4S cab 6MT I went with a 2013 CPO E93 space gray fox red/black interior 6MT with all the options I wanted (EDC, cold weather package, carbon leather, comfort access, etc.).

25.8K miles at delivery with two months remaining in original warranty where I got a brand new driver's side leather seatback replacement b/c it had detached from the seat frame. Also got a new EDC module warranty repair since it was going bad.

As CPO, I got a new windshield, two new front tires, new battery, brake pads, rotors, all fluids replaced, and detailed inside out including the engine bay, etc. and 2 year warranty. BMW now only offers 1 year warranty on CPOs.

Had to pay $1K for covered carrier from Houston to midatlantic area.

Chose my E93 over a E93 that was available at Autonation in Houston that only had 16K miles. Silverstone with black interior.

I was looking for a E92 with carbon fiber roof, 6MT, and fox red interior. When I found my current car, it checked off almost all the boxes, except it had black interior. I really didn't want another black interior car but I decided to settle because it checked the rest of the boxes. I figured black is still better than beige or silver, and it won't get as dirty as a lighter interior.

We are all going to compromise somewhere when buying a used car. You just have to see which items are non negotiable and go from there. I focused on things that are not easy to change or replace down the line. If you want a e92, don't settle for a e93 as you can't change that. Don't get a sunroof or DCT if you want CF roof or 6MT, etc.

my requirements were 6mt <30k$, <70k miles, jerez black, fox red, cf roof, and cold weather package. I compromised the cold weather package which turned out to be a non-issue, and miles were a little more than 80k, but i also got a lower price and a warranty until 100k, which turned out to be a great choice and so far im happy enough with my choice. I used to nitpick about paint and cosmetics but when you live in michigan you have to start to find peace with the random rocks and shit (huge salt chunks) that get flung into your car or you'll never be happy.

i quickly put this when i curbed all four wheels driving my new to me m3 back from PO to my house while on the interstate in ATL.

Compromised on color and got another back car with black interior which is boring as hell. Also, would have preferred a slick top but I do enjoy the sunroof so mainly color.

Needed low miles, Comp package, six speed and individual audio which I got. Also no lengthy repair history (warranty). Generally happy but man I wish I had a different color combo.

Bought it in February 2016 with 12k miles and bone stock.

The only compromise I made was lack of Individual colour. Ideally, I'd have settled for something other than AW/FR, but it wasn't exactly a bland combo so I went with it as it checked all the other boxes (low mileage, ZCP, extended leather, every single option *except* DCT and sunroof).

Funny enough a month after I bought it, I found a LSB on black 6MT ZCP out of Chicago. Same model year, same mileage, 100% same options otherwise. If the USD:CAD was more favourable I'd have happily made the switch, but the price delta after importing and duties was approaching $18k CAD for a colour. Couldn't justify it at the time. Looking at the market now, it would've retained every penny lol.

I currently own a Silverstone Metallic 08, previously owned a SSII 11. Both are sedans, my most recent purchase required some compromise. My non negotiables were manual transmission, low miles, one owner.

I had to settle or compromise for pre LCI and silver novilla leather. The cost saving will allow me to invest in projects such as RB (maybe), already installed Turner skid plates. The carbon fiber is a wrap I did myself. Despite its appearence I am in the market for a used OEM set.

The option I really enjoy is my current vehicle has a sunroof, from what I read not too desirable but I love it. I miss no back up camera...all these things can be addressed, just my focus now is on securing the mechanical integrity of car versus, a CIC retro etc.

European delivery. Ordered to my specs back in 2013, but was too impatient to add ten additional weeks to the normal six week delivery time. The car actually arrived four weeks after my order.

I'd like to hear this story! I'm on the ATL highways every single day, and I can certainly sympathize. Spooky place to be. If you're not first, you're last!

For me, the only compromise was color. I didn't want black, but after about three years of searching for the spec I got, I had to jump on the car.

I wanted space gray and I got that but i also wanted fox red interior, but ended up getting black interior. Overall I'm pretty happy because fox red can show alot of wear if not taken care of. Still love fox red though!

Time forced me into Melbourne Red which honestly was not my first choice but has grown on me so much.

If I did not buy that M3 at that time I would not have one probably.

silver interior, would've preferred red, black, or ideally two-toned.

on the flip side, not only checked all my other boxes but had pretty much every mod that I would've liked to have but wouldn't have wanted to shell out the cash for, right down to the arkym hood. single owner too

I didn't really know I wanted one of these until I drove one. I was pretty set on a C63, but felt like I should find a M3 to take for a spin, "just in case". Well, as you can see, I ended up with an M3. The first one I drove. I loved the styling and the lack of options. I had a cursory understanding of the e9x M3, but none of the details. Despite this, I figured that the limited options were pretty rare, particularly with the comp package.

I had to have it. Basically, the e92 found me, not the other way around.
