Hey again... anyone know if the collapsing panel in the trunk that limits the load height has the ability to lock or fasten in the raised position?

It seems to have a 'stop' of sorts there, but under hard acceleration it slams down to the floor which is super annoying.

Welcome man. You seem to have overall a well sorted car. You just need to code out some things, and get a few other things checked. See my answers inline below in caps.

- radio occasionally just randomly reboots - wtf? THAT DOESNT HAPPEN TO ME. SOME PEOPLE HAVE ISSUES WITH THE BATTERY CABLE IN THE GLOVE BOX COMING LOOSE. IT COULD BE RELATED BUT MAY JUST BE A SHORT IN THE RADIO. CHECK FUSES.
- seatbelt chime from hell - I ALWAYS buckle, but damn is it annoying if I unbuckle early... anyway to program around that? GET CARLY, CODE IT OUT
- glovebox won't stay unlocked - what's the trick? (don't get me started on how the manuals don't fit in there - dumb!) TRY THE KEY. THE GLOVE LOCKS WHEN YOU LOCK THE CAR. IF IT DOESNT STAY UNLOCKED WHEN THE CAR IS UNLOCKED, LUBE THE LATCH IN THE GLOVE WITH SOME WD40. IF THAT DOESNT WORK, ITS BROKEN GET IT CHECKED.
- intermittent and rain sensor wipers seem to have mind of their own and adj wheel doesn't seem to do anything - secret handshake? MAKE SURE THE WINDSHIELD TOP CENTER IS CLEAN AND FREE OF DEBRIS. THATS WHERE THE RAIN SENSOR IS, RIGHT WHERE THE REAR VIEW MIRROR ATTACHES TO THE GLASS BUT ON THE OUTSIDE. WHEN THE ADJUSTMENT ON THE STOCK IS SET TO OFF AND IT SHOULD NOT GO ON. IF IT DOES GET IT CHECKED OUT.
- dual zone climate control - no 'pairing' option for the passenger's to slave off the driver? NOT A FEATURE OF THE CAR, LIVE WITH IT
- clunk from right rear area when setting off - sounds like a small water bottle falling over in trunk can hear soft thud but not feel it. Don't think it'd be subframe or diff bushings @ 91k... NORMAL DRIVE SHAFT CLUNK. EVERYONE'S GOT IT EVEN IF YOU REPLACE THE DRIVE SHAFT.
- vanity mirror slide fused shut - any suggestions? BUY A NEW ONE. I LIKE BMW OF SOUTH ATLANTA FOR OEM BODY PARTS
- best way to pair an iPhone these days to stream via Amazon Music? Read an old thread about using a headphone setup of some sort, but that was yearssss ago.BUY A BLUETOOTH ADAPTER ON E BAY OR AMAZON THAT PLUGS INTO YOUR USB PORT INSIDE THE CENTER CONSOLE.
- how to adjust ebrake? I'd like it a bit tighter/lower. USE A SCREWDRIVER INSIDE THE BRAKE CALIPER, THERE IS A SCREW HOLE INSIDE IT TO ADJUST. YOU PROB NEED NEW E BRAKE PADS AT THIS AGE, I SURE DO. TAKE IT FOR A BRAKE JOB TO GET IT FIXED.

Hi and welcome - the mystery of the locking glovebox solved... took awhile but fixed mine...

Good luck!

My idrive redscreened and died periodically with open headers, but all good now.

For Bluetooth, I bought this unit below to go to aux and am really happy with it, def recommend it for you also.

It comes with a USB car charger which is not necessary, gives you a little round magnetic mount which I put close to my middle arm rest where I get ergnomic access to the forward back pause play buttons. Sound quality is excellent, and price is great. I believe this unit also allows you to pair one phone or tablet for music and another just for calls, or one for both.

THANK YOU ALL for your responses and suggestions, greatly appreciated!

Mvy... note the pro-tip mentioned earlier in this thread about pressing the ignition off button for a 'long push' vs. a short push to turn radio off w/ engine. Love that this is solved!

Ugh on the glovebox - what a dumb design. Appreciate that insight, will tackle it soon. Def super annoying to have to use key, which is buried in a FOB lol / d'oh.

Tx for BT link, will give that a look. No USB port under my armrest, rather an aux input.

Regarding driveshaft clunk, yeah I have that - that's different tho I think... more of a click/clack. This is a distinct 'thump', sounds like a 12oz water bottle falling over in trunk. Doubting subframe / diff bushings, but still have to get it back on my lift for a looksee...

Should be one right next to the aux jack, it's covered with a little plastic slider piece over it. No need to waste a usb port, those bt pieces don't need much power at all.

I believe it's supposed to lock up - I've never had an issue with it slamming down - when you lift it all the way up, it should click pretty darn loudly.

Faced the same issue on mine.

Pushed the bottom end in and pryed off the top by pulling the top end.

today's Q: flickering taillight - inner left

my e39 M5 had cracked wires at the hinge area - might this be something similar?

tapping the lens or the rear casing has no effect on manipulating the flicker oddly enough

Could you record a video of the flicker?

Im grandfather as well, just email support and they can assist you, I had upgraded my iphone 8 to iphone X and my 8 had the old Carly Version, so I had to redownload the new version but was grandfathered. good luck

^thanks^ - to me, Jerez is one of the nicest colors ever... it's truly stunning, and this car overall is arguably quite the brilliant looking car. I'm stunned how much I and others like it.

still sorting thru some of the niggles... and still pissed about the tow hook plug suicide

no taillight vid but it either comes on dim and then goes off - repeat - or it's on fine. WTH?
