Square 359M for street/track
I got a 2011 M3 comp coupe recently and it came with two sets of comp 359M wheels. One set with summer tires and the other ones with all seasons. Both of them on stock tire sizes.
While no the intention of the car, I would like to have a square setup for track. Mi first idea was to find a rear square set of 219M or 260M for a possible trade of the all season 359M but even without mentioning the trade part, it's been harder to find a set of 4 rears 18"s oem. Now, with 2 sets of 359M on hand, In theory, I could run a square rear for the street and a front square for the track or vice versa. I could run a 265/35/19 on the front square set and even the same 265/35/19 with a sticky compound for the track. I would still prefer to find a set of 4 rear oem 18's since I could have a better sidewall and tires are way cheaper. However, I do have already the 359M, which is the best wheel made for the M3 period. Thoughts? |

the only flaw in your plan is using the 265/35/19 tire size on the front axle. Its overall diameter (typically 26.3 inches for 265/35) is too large and will rub in various places depending on your suspension ride height, alignment, and if you plan to use any spacers for fitment/appearance reasons.
If you used a 265/30/19 or preferrably 275/30/19, you could run the square 19x10 359M wheels as a track setup and then use the front 19x9 front square setup with a 265/30/19 as your street setup (with appropriate spacers). You really need to keep the front tire diameter at 26.0" or less to prevent rubbing and a better overall fitment in the wheel well. The only downside to the 359M wheel is its weight. It's the heaviest OEM wheel option at 26.6 lbs for the 19x10 size. EDIT: Personally, I'd sell one set of your 359M wheels and invest in a light set of 18x10" square wheels (like APEX, Bimmerworld, Volk, BBS, etc) for your track set and run a 275/35/18 tire. Then keep your nice staggered 359M wheels for the street. Last edited by MineralWhiteF80; 07-06-2023 at 03:32 PM.. |

Thanks for the input. I’m still looking for a set of 18’s oem rears but 359m square is the backup plan.
The 26” seems to be the key (+the offsets) |
