oh but as above phone them up as they can wangle stuff that you can't do online. just a note with admiral, you have to specifically ask them to add commuting to the policy.

+1 - Admiral was the best quote by a long way and most importantly did NOT require a tracker to be fitted (saving another few hundred quid!!)

I am 38, full NCD and no points (yet ) - Pay £550 pa for Fully comp, NCD protected, courtesy car, windscreen cover, etc....

Took out multicar and they knocked hundred quid off the current insurer for the missus 2.0HDi C5 VTR+ - £268!!

Obviously we are both named drivers on each others policies. Cars kept on driveway and commuting included.

I was very impressed by the price and the quality of the staff when speaking to them on the phone

I’m having no luck at all. It's more likely I will have to pay £1300

Admiral quoted £870 on the M3 vert whilst the coupe is £1450 The DCT adds to the premium too.

Have you spoken to them or just got internet quotes - I would have thought the vert would be more to insure?

Mine is also DCT and Admiral are aware of this. May be worth a phone call and see why the coupe is so much more expensive?

Crikey, there is so much variance out there..

Admiral do not cover any optional extras, ie factory fitted options unless specifically listed and declared (which raises the premium)- this includes DCT. They were cheap for me, but I went with Privilege instead, 640 including NCD protection & hire car & legal. This includes cover for everything factory fitted Cheapest quote I got was More Than - 510 - but wouldn't give me NCD protection as they have a 5 year period in which claims are counted. I also got shitty service from them a few years ago which put me off.

44 years old 10+ NCD, North London, garaged, wife on policy

My best deal came via a broker after the 'More Than' fiasco. Try Adrian Flux they are specialist brokers who look after high value and high performance cars.

Did it make a significant difference to the quote by declaring your mods? I'm considering getting an Akrapovic exhaust, tune and filter... just be good to know what I'll be letting myself in for premium wise...

It does. It adds about 100 more to the insurance which for me is definitely worth it as I have more than 8 years no claims. I protect my no claims as well which you might want to consider.

Same here, me and missus are with Admiral, I pay £483 fully comp with full no claims etc. I was also with them on my RRS, which was a great deal too.

Luckily I have never had to claim at any point so I don't know how you'd get on them (Admiral). I made a claim when I was with More Than when I had a 130i, had no problems there.

They reckon LV comes close to the top if having to make a claim?

I also took out the BMW short fall insurance as I know Admiral will not pay out the full value if anything happened, whereas the short fall will pay out the price I paid for the car at time of purchase.

+1 - Took £15k worth of shortfall just in case I need to claim for a total loss and Admiral don't play ball

I found out when I tried to put a private plate on the car and I was informed 'my policy will be cancelled in 7 days as we do not insure this type of vehicle there is a technical issue with the web.'
EXACTLY what happened to me with More Than. Took my money, issued my policy documents and only when I called up to add my Fully Comp green card for Le Mans did the chap on the phone eventually tell me that they were cancelling my insurance as they "don't insure M3s". Nice of them not to tell me as I was 7 hours away from my policy (in theory) starting with them. Took a lot of angry calls and letters to get my money back (after 2 weeks).

Now pay £1000 with Admiral (30, 5 years no claims, north London) althoug beware - the original quote was c.900 which they then upped to £1,100 due to the factory fit options on my car which they call "modifications". Apparently things like a USB port, Bluetooth and adaptive headlights "obviously make the car more desirable to thieves". In the end I called back, spoke to a more reasonable chap and settled on £1,000. Just as well as More Than were leaving me high and dry.

*****!

Was a really bad experience with More Than. The annoying part is that the website let me go through with the quote, I then called up to run through every single detail (I'm like that) and still they were happy to take my money.

I lost the plot with them when it came to getting a refund - first they begged for a day to "speak to their accounts department to see how much exactly they were going to refund". I of course made it abundantly clear that this would be the full premium amount and to not even think about any sort of admin or cancellation charge. They then simply never got back in touch when they said they would and I had to resort to angry letters and even began the chargeback process.

Avoid.

Was going to go through Admiral, but used their quote to get better quote through a broker. Paid £324 4 years NCB £250 XS with Adelaide Insurance underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance. Special deal for IAM members ensures Adelaide have to beat any written quote. You just supply them with printed copy of Admiral's internet quote.
