Alienware charges huge mark-ups on their desktops. The majority of their systems you can build from scratch for about 1/2 the price they are asking. So the margins are there I'm guessing.

don't they only use high end parts? its like buying brand name vehicle to a regular car that does the same thing: drive!

DO NOT BUY ALIENWARE.

I have bought many desktops from them in the past and my most recent one has had so many different defects that I got a replacement, now the replacement is busted up. Still have to call them about my sound card going out. I have had so many different tech support reps that treated me like I was wasting their time... The manager at the tech support area acted rude and irritated that I was having to talk to him.

The reason that the most recent one is having so many issues is because Dell bought Alienware and has been running them into the ground. Now that they are losing business they are trying to give away things with their desktops.

Worst support with the worst parts. Get an HP.

If you wanna blow that kind of money on a desktop and aren't technically inclined to build one yourself then look at the HP Blackbird. We had one at the Fry's I worked at... that thing was pretty fricken sweet. It really sucked when we would sell one though because they weighed like 80lbs lol

yeah but the laptop is worthless... its a heap of shit. a new laptop for those specs around 800US...

alienware's are ultra overrated. I beleive they dont deserve the credit they get.... IMHO
