Hard to say! Because it's a learning experience taking the car apart, I have maybe 4 - 5 hours in so far. If I had to do it again, knowing the LEDs and how to access them, I would say the work I completed so far would be 2 hours tops.

I'm still not done yet though. I have the ambient lighting in the map light modules, ambient lighting on the door and back (e92), window buttons on the door, and the trunk button. It's all or nothing.. Just a little at a time.

I'll update my second post once I get some more completed. I'll also post up some links to the LEDs I'm using and the total count used..

Looks fantastic man! You know I've always disliked the orange background lights too, particularly on my previous Mercedes c230 and c350 and now on the m3. I'd love to see the background lights in red!

I would help you anyway I could but I am not for hire. I haven't even had time to finish my doors!

To answer your question though, I would probably charge over 1000$ for the complete interior.. It's the cost for molesting every inch this thing.

It's a great DIY. You will really get to know your car

Hi there! Great work. Great idea. So I'm on the same mission. And after changing the 8 leds behind the heating control lcd only two of them work. Did you have to make any adjustments to get this to work? Or maybe use special low voltage leds?
Thanks

Take a look at the picture on my first post. I put white dots according to the orientation. Are the two that work for you the second two from the left? You may have them all backwards except the two that work.

Some awesome work all the way around. Wish I had the ballz to do the Android OS thing. That looks like an amazing setup; not something that I would be willing to do myself.

Any reason you didn't install blue lights on the other buttons in the center console?

Thanks! Since then, I've completely redone all the android setup using the Bimmertech VividScreen (hi res) which has an amazing picture. Ill put together a thread on it soon hopefully.

No reason. I left any leds that are an indication of state (power/edc, vents, ect..) for contrast and maximum indication-ness lol.

I honestly don't remember what I ended up buying.. I got them probably about 5-6 years ago for my 335i and moved them over when I got the ///M. i think ebay and it was a kit for the entire interior. They are 6000k or close to it.

I forgot about this thread... ill update it soon with pictures of anything I left out of the first post.. i believe it was only the doors that I've missed. The only thing that I never got to was the trunk button (which is probably the easiest one in the whole car hahaha)!

Everything is working well, otherwise!

It really sucks what Photobucket did. Almost all the threads and DIYs are missing pictures now...

Hi! Sorry for bump an old thread... do you have any photos of the ambient door lightning? I'm still with the classic orange but they doesn't light much, don't know if are the leds inside the light module or works in that way.

Figuring out how to access all the leds is like a puzzle. For the ambient door light, the light module slides out just enough to get to the tabs that lock onto the light pipe. Carefully slide it back (further than shown in the picture).

You can see the tabs that holds it to the light pipe.

And the board. Led stands on end.

The drivers side mirror and window control

Passenger side window control

The ambient lights in the dome light modules are now blue. Sorry but it looks like I never took any pictures. The SOS button is still amber (i think for technical difficulties) but, I like the idea of a life/safety button in amber.

I love it!
