I've always been a black car. With the FO, the more I see it, the more I love it. It's growing on me. Cheers. |

This is the biggest reason I chose a BMW over other cars, they still look sexy years after they rolled off the assembly line, and decades after they were designed. Hell I still go ga-ga over a clean e36. The M3 is a car you can keep for 20 years and it'll still look good.

To people that don't know much about cars, M3s seem like any 3 series. To enthusiasts, all generations of the M3 that are well maintained still grab attention. Just the other day, I saw a spotless darker yellow E36 M3 couple rolling down the streets, and I couldn't stop staring at it. Right after I got home, I spent hours on Auto Traders...

We have a bunch on M3's in Chicago and I get complements in my SSII all the time. I was on a trip to Lincoln Nebraska(1100 mile round trip) and i think i got a complement at every gas station I stopped at which we all know was alot hehe.
At first I did't want the SSII but the deal was so good I couldn't pass it up. Since then, I am glad because it is a ///M color and it doesn't blend in like all the other black, white, gray ones. When I pulled up to the house the first thing the wife said was "You bought a baby blue m3?" now she really likes the color. The best is when she gets complements on "her" M3. She is always eager to tell me when people say something to her.

It's funny no matter what car forum you are on whenever anybody makes a thread along the lines of "I get attention in my car" people from California come in to respond "not here, you might as well be driving a beige Civic".
I have a friend that lives in Santa Monica who I visit often. Sure there are lots of "nice" cars around, lots of 3-series, but 95% of people are driving the same economy cars they drive on the East Coast -- Prius, Yaris, old car, etc. I might see two or three M3s a day here, might see fix or six in LA, but they still stand out. I know I start daydreaming hard about driving mine up the coast when I get passed by one when I'm struggling to get up an incline on the highway at 65mph with the AC and the pedal jammed on the floor in my friends' Yaris. I'm sure if you picked up a girl for a date in a freshly washed M3 she would still compliment you on your car, no matter which coast you're on. |

Only one issue with that statement. The reason the M3 gets so much attention from men (and less so from women) is because every dude reads Car & Driver or Automobile or whatever, whether they are an enthusiast or not. And every year those magazines have had something like "M3 is the greatest car EVER to be made it is the KING of all automobiles". So people actually do know what it is on that basis alone.

I tell the wife the exact same thin if she catches me "observing" another lady. "Honey, just because I look at other cars does not mean I don't love my car(I do), I just like looking at cars in general". Hehehe

There was a time in my life when I could not have afforded this car. And, yet, it was within reach "someday". For that reason, I lusted after it. Do I lust after a Bugatti? Absolutely not. It is so far beyond my reality that I don't give it a second thought. Last year I went to the NY International Auto show. I spent about 3 minutes looking at the Bugatti. On the other hand, I went back to look at the M6 like 10 times. Why? Because it is a really nice car but is also within the scope of my reality. I think the M3 has a similar effect for a lot of people.

To contribute to this thread, my masseuse and her secretary got word of my just getting an M3 and when they saw it, they were more excited than me! They wanted my massage session over quickly so they could see it.
Yes, they were both hot, and yes, they were both married. |

I get occasionally get comments or looks outside of Atlanta.. not in Buckhead though. I see another M3 basically on a daily basis.
I pulled into my dealership yesterday and there were 4 M3's in the service bay and a '13 EB coupe sitting in the service bay showroom area. It didn't make me feel very special. |
