Thats correct, if it would have happened on another part of the track where the speed wasnīt so high i might have had the time to do the extra pump on the brake pedale that is required to get the brakes to work when losing one of the lines. But in this case, after 30 laps with a BBK and sticky R-tires you had moved the brakepoint as close to the end of the straight as possible, there is actually even less room for any failures if you compare it with a stock M3. I have a much shorter distance to reduce the speed from 200km/h to 80 km/h

WOW... Glad you're okay
What brake kit is that? Pep might have to avoid that brand.

I would imagine that if you hit something hard enough and with enough force to puncture the caliper itself that you would have heard or seen it. I think that maybe the puncture to the caliper happened during the impact.

Nah - posted a thread here so obviously doing just fine and didn't respond to his post a few times while responding to others. His simple post of didnt get a chance to take a photo certainly seems reasonable to me.

Glad that the two of you are fine.
I've always been a bit leary with aftermarket brake work. I used to do all my own brake work when I tracked my RX7. I felt comfortable doing it on my own car since I would double check everything and would change the fluid before every track day. However, a friend of mine with a 911 Turbo wanted me to do his brakes and I refused. Dealing with stainless brake lines is an added risk as full suspension and steering movement has to simulated to make sure there is no contact or kinking. I personally would have a hard time getting my confidence back if that had happened to me. |
