Would you change something in your life?

Honestly, it's a mixed bag for me. All the choices I might change would make me a much different person, and not necessarily for the better. When I was younger I was more ambitious and career oriented. Now I am just happy to have another day especially if it's spent with friends or family.

Sorry to pick on this phrase Kyngofpop, but I think as a society we are so focused on "winning" and are so afraid of something being perceived as a failure that we lose all the learnings that come with the inevitable failure everyone goes through. Only by recognizing and accepting failure can we truly learn from it.

Back on the original topic, the one thing I can say I regret is not spending more time with my family before my mom passed away. I was apart from my family at a relatively young age in search of better education. I regret staying away in between semesters to take summer courses...should have gone home instead.

Other than that I don't wish for anything different...I'm happy where I am.

That's exactly my regret when it comes to family. Having moved to IL from MA, I gave up a lot of time I could have spent with my father before he passed. I know that feeling.

Yes I would change 2 things. #1 not immigrate to USA and #2 do better in school and instead of studying computer science, I would major in business

I set myself back 20 years by getting a degree. I'd love to be able to have done/do something with my 20's/30's/40's beyond just working to pay debts.

1) I would not have taken so many Japanese language classes in college and would have graduated sooner and gotten the job I wanted.

2) I should have followed through and bought Apple stock in 2001.

Military is actually nice as I hear. A buddy of mine retired at 40 with ton of benefits, and even before when he was working he didn't do shit, at the top of his carrier he was working 2-3 hours per day and spend the rest of the time with wife and kids at their free housing

Yes. I found out about 1.5 years ago there are a TON of foods I can't eat. I'd been to every doctor we could find because I always felt lethargic, fatigued, foggy in the head, and just all around crappy. Every single day. I slept at least 12 hours a night and was always too tired to do anything. My first three years of college were so miserable, I wouldn't wish that experience on my worst enemy. After a semester spent in England, I came home feeling worse than ever and found a naturopath who was able to help me some. We began experimenting with diet and within one month, I felt like I was on top of the world. I specifically remember driving to summer classes one day with such a big grin on my face, cars passing by must have been looking at me like I was a weirdo. I had absolutely no idea it was possible to feel so good. No idea! I went from C's to straight A's my last semester, to feeling better than I ever imagined was possible, I wanted to spend time with people, wasn't constantly cranky anymore. So yeah, I'm not upset about the life I've been given but I'm sure you can imagine that I wish I'd have figured this out sooner. It set me back in a lot of ways in addition to the fact that it just plain sucked feeling so awful all the time. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with where i am.

A lot of foods are just plain garbage for most IMO.....seems society has forgot that natural is usually best for health.

It's so true. I'd never really thought of it because my family has always eaten pretty "healthfully" but there's so much trash out there. So basically for me it's no starches like potatoes, corn, rice, etc. no sugar of any kind except fruit in small quantities, and nothing with yeast. So it's a bit odd. Traveling is tough but I've gotten used to it at home. Feeling better than I ever imagined possible!

I have thought about this extensively for the past few years. Due to seeing a link on here I recently bought and have started reading "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck" and it has confirmed to me what I have learned so far in life. Life is indeed focused on winning and success. Not everyone is a winner, not everyone will be successful; but this doesn't mean that you can't be happy. Failure isn't who we are, it shows that we tried and gives us valuable lessons on how to make changes and try again.

With that being said, I would only change 2 actual events in my life.

1.) I would have avoided asking my children's mother out on a date. That event changed my life for the worse forever and more importantly to note, it ruined the lives of my children. Choose your mates wisely folks; the wrong influence on your children (especially from a parent) is one of the most difficult things to endure. Watching them live a life of suffering and not realize the are suffering is hands down on of the two most difficult things I have ever experienced followed by #2.

2.) The day before my father committed suicide he called me and I didn't answer the phone. The day prior he called me and started a huge argument with me and I was still upset with him so I didn't answer. I would pay or give anything to go back and answer that call.

For me no specific situations or things come to mind. My life has taken a path of a lot of twists and turns, ups and downs, successes and failures. All which have made me the man I am today. I now strive to be the best father, husband, son, brother, friend I can be.

We all have those...woulda shoulda coulda moments. But nothing in life is learned without making a few mistakes.

Some would suggest I should have never gone on that date with my first wife, should have never shown up to church for the wedding, and never should have shown up at the hospital when she had someone else's baby. I'm truly glad I did.

That door closed, but not without opening several others: I learned that love hurts, but it's still love. I learned that one can actually forgive, just can't forget. I learned yoga. And then I met/impregnated/married my current wife.
