*PLEASE HELP* e90 m3 no sound passenger side.
Hi Guys. I need some help. I just picked up my first e90 m3 a few days ago but im having an issue.
The passenger side speakers dont work. It has the individual audio package. I replaced the amp and it fixed it for a few minutes, then stopped working again. So this tells me the speakers are fine. Not to mention the chances of all the passenger speakers, including the sub and center speaker going out all at the same time, are slim to none. The MOST fiberoptic system seems to be working fine. I can bind my phone to the car, and the red light at the most bus is working. In the trunk, the amp, TCU, and bluetooth module all have the red light from the optic cable. So we are good there. The passenger subwoofer under the seat faintly crackles when I turn the volume up and balance all the way to the passenger side. Other than that, nothing, not even the center speaker in the dash. When I unplug the termination loop from under the dash, the SOS warning comes up, I loose sound from drivers side speakers, door chime failure, and loss of volume/idrive controls. I need your help. I suspect there is a short somewhere. But im not sure what to do. |

Wrong section so replies will suffer. Google the amp pin outs and then unplug the big connector as this is all the speaker wires. Then tone out the speakers pairs with a multi meter. The pairs per speaker are similar but inverted colors(solid yellow w/red stripes +, solid red w/yellow strips -). Check the ohms and make sure they make sense. You may have a blown speaker that keeps eating amps.

Hi Scrippy, I actually posted in the audio section too but I thought id post here in the general section to see if I would get any bites from people just scrolling though.
When you say, "tone out the speakers". What do you mean by that? Just check ohm and voltage? |

well then... this is the front passenger mid. It was disconnected when I pulled the door panel off.
the tweeter is gone the rear right/passenger (also disconnected), along with the rear left, and front left have all been converted to logic 7 speakers. and finally, the rear deck lid speakers are just gone entirely, both sides. the center speaker also doesn't work. I haven't checked out the sub. SO, the previous owner was a piece of **** and screwed me over. Cool. Im scared to buy new speakers just to have them short out. sigh. |
