I don't think it's an issue of lowballing. The fact is that a new ESS kit sold and installed by EAS is $9,995. Yet, people are trying to sell their used kits for $8k. That makes NO SENSE. At $8k, assuming you don't dare a self install, that means that after tune and install you are all in at $10,500. Huh? What am I missing? Even at $7k it makes no sense because then a buyer is all in at $9,500 and has NO WARRANTY.

IMO there has to be at least a $2k savings over a new kit to justify even considering a used kit and that places the used kit value at no more than $5,500 for anyone able to get over to EAS.

Your math is the same numbers I had in mind. But to be fair, this ad is for the 650 kit, not the 625(which is where the $9995 price is from). Then again, I believe ESS recommends rod bearings replaced, so another $2300?(I'm not sure if the 650 kit comes with the needed new rod bearings)

I don't think that rod bearing replacement should be a factor in the price of determining what a used s/c'er would cost, no more than it would be a factor if you picked up a new one.

Another thing....people need to realize the market for used s/c'er is changing. With ESS and other vendors dropping prices at the start of the year, the price point for the used kits have to drop as well to entice buyers.

That being said, selling is all about what the market is willing to bear, and the price will eventually be adjusted accordingly. Sellers start off at a price they want, and if they want to move an item, they'll eventually come down to someone is willing to pay, or sit on the item. Simple as that. Happened to me a few times on various forums. I understand that it's simply business, so people need to take emotion out of it; it's nothing personal.

Like the other member, I'm soft-shopping these, as well. I have an idea of the price point at which I'd strongly considering purchasing, and if it isn't met, I'll keep on searching. It's a part. If this one sells higher than I'm willing to pay, that's cool, as I'm rather patient.

OP, good luck selling it. I have no qualms with you asking what you're asking and working down until someone jumps on it. Someone will buy it.

+1...the asking price is really lacking a "savings point" from buying used. At this point, might as spend another $1K-$2K and get new, warranty and peace of mind of non-used wear items.

You'd be surprised. I had my VF620 kit up here for 5200$ and no one bought it for months. Had to sell it to someone in Australia! He got a killer deal to say the least.

Most people on these forums are bargain hunters who want deals that are too good to be true.
I almost gave up selling anything on here.
Unfortunately this is true!

As the platform age, more and more bargain hunters join the owner group. Pretty soon here will be like E46fanatics.
