Maybe they really would. But the production (globally) ended on 29th of June. In some countries there may still be a few brand new 1Ms waiting for their future owners and that's it.

Not my analysis, but it does make sense.

Here's a comparison of a 2013 328i with ZPP/Premium package, ZSP/Sport package - aka Sport line, ZCW/Cold Weather package, HK stereo, BMW Assist/Enhanced Bluetooth, and xenon headlights with models equally equipped from model years 2009, 2008, and 2004.

2013 F30 MSRP - $46,920
2009 E90 MSRP - $48,940 in 2012 dollars, $45,575 at the time
2008 E90 MSRP - $47,745 in 2012 dollars, $44,620 at the time
2004 E46 MSRP - $47,875 in 2012 dollars, $39,255 at the time, this model lacked many of the technological and safety advancements that came with the E90 models.
Interesting, 2004 dollars didn't change much when we talk about starting salary for a college grad. It did for a 3 series though. The bottom line is this guy is right - cars got extremely expensive as everything else while salaries have not gone up. It sound as I grow my career and income so grows the 3er. I will never be able to afford an M car no matter how hard I work.... Just saying....

He's probably also comparing an E46 330 to a F30 328 lol.

I know there are quite a few parts that BMW doesn't sell to the US that are on their indicated European models only.
Maybe they mean "production capacity", not actual built cars.

BMW only builds cars that are already sold. What this means is that dealers purchase inventory and individual customer vehicle orders are built to spec. BMW doesn't build random cars and ship them to dealers. Dealers order them and control their inventory, stocking it with cars they deem as fast sellers. Next time you want a new BMW, talk to the dealer, order your car exactly the way you want it (orange with red interior) and wait a few weeks.

75% top marginal tax rates by the socialist Hollande is sure to get France's economy going in the right direction. Doomed.

Free market capitalism is the only long-lasting and self-sustaining path to prosperity.

The government isn't the source of jobs or economic well-being.

They seem to have omitted some information provided by BMW such as demand for the latest MINI, 1er , X1 , X3, 3er Sedan and Touring models driving priority BMW sales in European markets - product that generates profit.

They stopped selling the 1M in the US because of incoming emissions regulation. Globally there are around 15 "official" 1M models that are radically different than the production car either by individual color , accessories and exclusivity but at a cost.

Jason, overall is the 3 series selling as well in the US as expected? Compared to e46 and e90 models when they were first introduced? I don't see too many on the road, but it is hard to gauge.

I don't want to get into a political discussion or anything but just wanted to share a fun fact. During some of America's greatest prosperity (1950s and 60s) our top marginal tax rate was 95%. Meanwhile the 90s and 2000s were characterized by extremely low tax rates, some of the lowest of the century, and we can clearly see the financial prosperity that led us to...

The influence of tax rates on economic prosperity are complex and largely indirect, but high tax rates correlate strongly with strong economic performance.

+10000000

This is the first time in my life that I have no interest in any new BMW model being offered.

The E92 M3 is great but $70K+ is nuts.

1M's still up for sale..? (where plz?)

Secondly, the 1M was not cancelled due to emissions.. it was canceled because BMW didn't want to make the car anymore.. as the E90 M3 is still being produced and it's emissions and MPG are worse than the 1M Coupe.

Again.. it was BMW's choice to nix the 1M, not some regulatory standard! But good marketing Scott..
Thanks for your comment but read what I said.

The 1M stopped selling early in the US because of emissions legislation for the N54 engine specific to the 1M.
Whilst the car continued to be sold in Europe until earlier this Summer.
The 1er E82 and E88 are still in production at the current time.

Absolutely correct! And that's why hardly anyone pays that much for it. (Limerock excepted).
