Exhaust Choices
So I've wanting to get an aftermarket exhaust for my e92 since I got the car 3 months ago. I don't want anything that is extremely loud but the stock exhaust is just a little too quiet for my liking. I want something that is high pitch along the line of a F1 car or towards that exhaust note, rather than a deep rumble since my other car has a deep rumbling exhaust (That I'm getting too old for). I've spent the past month or so searching through this forum and youtube clips, and have narrowed down to three choices: Active Autowerke Signature, Eisenmann Sport, and Borla Atak.
What are some of your thoughts, especially if you have or had either of the above exhaust on your car. I welcome your opinion. Thanks, |

For F1 type sound but not too loud with no drone check out the Corsa. Downside some don't like the look of the tips but they can be swapped out. Check out this member who has been through quite a few exhausts and chose the Corsa:
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...ighlight=corsa Short Youtube example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQ8dBEI3OtU If you want to go a little louder than the Corsa, the Meisterschaft GT also has the F1 sound as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJC_T9sSgpw I don't own either one but have spent many hours trying to locate a F1 type sound on YouTube as well and without being to loud or raspy. These two examples are the closest to my ears. |

On another note, it appears active autowerkes is not making the signature exhaust anymore as they have a new version coming out soon. I've contacted them several weeks ago about the time frame but have yet to hear from them. |

OP, my advice would be to attend several meetups in your area and hear things in person. There are so many different camera/mic setups out there so they will never capture things perfectly. You'd feel really stupid if you spent $3000 based on some YouTube videos, got the exhaust, and then hated it.

Maybe pop your head into to other local events that are more generic European ones. Also, go spectate at some track days or autocrosses and you're bound to see M3s there. BTW, the stock exhaust sounds pretty bad-ass already, why not just save the money for something else? Here's proof:

Hmm just heard the meisterschaft exhaust sound clips and it is very nice! Anyone know if the titanium would make a different tone than the stainless one?

It's my understanding that titanium exhausts produce a higher pitched sound

I 100% agree, Akra is hands down the best sounding/quality BMW exhaust available, I love it every time i drive my M.

Akra Evo is way too boomy and bassy. There's a reason tons of them are always for sale in the classifieds.

I can't decide myself....through recordings and on headphones they all sound the same to me at high RPM (except some of the louder valvtronic systems)
Maybe just the lower end changes from one system to the next? GM |

Want to do the akra evo myself but like the previous comments say , it does seem way too boomy. Is that the case akra owners?
Just seems like a win/win exhaust. More hp and 50 pounds lighter. My only concern is the over the top boomy and bassy note in low rpms. |

I have an e92/93 MPE with 7500 miles on it...like new, never even driven in the rain. It is a V1 and perfect except the paint is flaking on one tip...can be touched up or I can remove from all tips. $2000.00 plus shipping. PM for pictures if interested.

Are you also going to delete the cats (even in the future?). Important question to consider before you pull the trigger on a muffler

Probably not, at least not in the near future. I live in an apartment and my other car is already catless and it set off the monoxide alarm everytime I start up the car. Don't want the e92 to do the same until I move into a house later down the road.
