Daily Driver Help Needed
I took the M3 of the street 2 years ago and have been driving a Cayenne diesel since then and use it to trailer the M to the track. I absolutely love the Cayenne and don't want to get rid of it.
The wife drives an RX350 and the lease is due in 2 months. So....I got to thinking (always dangerous). What if I she drives the Cayenne (which she wouldn't mind) and I get a more engaging daily and then we switch on track days. Only caveat is she wouldn't want to drive something like a 911, Cayman or Corvette. Also, for daily purposes I'd prefer an auto. So far I've been looking at RS5, C63, SVR. Prefer gently used since I don't care about the new factor. The other possibility is to remove the wing and lip from the M and daily it. But that doesn't seem right since it still has a 1/2 cage and Recaros. Suggestions/opinions welcome as I've exhausted my mental resources. |

The answer is obvious: Buy a second M3 for a daily!
I have two M3s, one for track, one for street |

what is your goal with the new car?
i daily drove an electric smart car for three years. the lease was up a few months back and i've been missing it. yes, i miss the electric smart car. so much, that i'm going to buy one (used 2nd gen) in the coming months. it was dirt cheap, surprisingly quick (1,900 lbs without driver), and rear engine, rear wheel drive layout. the seating position was upright and very comfortable.

Just get something moderately quick that gets good gas mileage and is reliable. All 3 of those cars you listed are going to be expensive to buy, expensive to maintain, or too similar to the M3.

I've got a diesel X5 to tow the track E46 around, I think I wanna DD a 996 next. Would be interesting with the rear engine setup, quick enough, manual, and kind of hilarious with snow tires on it.

I'm not looking for either dirt cheap or overly expensive. Just something nice and fun to drive. I'm starting to think an e92 just might be the answer. Problem, of course, is finding a good one.

So what does that mean, $20k? $30k? $40k?

If you want a comfy cruiser with auto that is fast in a straight line and can be tuned to be faster and has AWD to help in rain and snow, a used E63 AMG BiTurbo would work but the cheapest were in the high 40s the last time I looked. With just a tune, these cars trap close to 130 in the quarter.

E92 is the answer. The wife and I both DD M3's and love it. One $85 repair in 2 years and 50k miles between them. Lots of forum member for sale cars that will fit the bill for you. E90 is probably a better DD but I guess that's just driver preference.

Used Panamera. Don't get one of the high-end ones or the price goes through the roof.

LOL, meme-tier car that's horribly unreliable. Even if you ignore the journalists who all had problems with their press fleet cars on the basis of likely abuse, there's a decent number of owners who are constantly taking theirs in for warranty work. Electrical gremlins seem to be the biggest problem and AR has had to release multiple software updates to sort things out.

I never said it was good. Lol
Ok, how about a Miata. Supercharger and coilovers. Sell it when it's smog time.

Very nice. Do I spy a gts wing back there?
And is your track car an e90? It's been a minute since I've seen it. Kinda cool if you have an e90 and e92. What's it like going "back to stock?"
