Took the cat for a drive today.
Also, damp conditions let me capture the aero effects of the mirror wing. BMW claims that they improve airflow over the side windows for performance and noise reasons. |

It's my dad's 86 911 Turbo (930). He bought it new in 86 and it has 99k on it.
It's bored, stroked, big turbo'd, and completely terrible to drive, but incredible at the same time. You might think you know turbo lag. It costs in the 5 figures to maintain it annually. He is a glutton for punishment, and loves the stripped down feel and rough ride of it. Since he's getting up in age, I'm trying to convince him to get a GT3 because of the stripped down feel, rough riding, noisy cabin, and available manual, plus it'll be more reliable. Might not be big boost but it's a similar philosophy. He keeps getting cold feet though. |

What are these Mirror wings? I assume you have a coupe, but my E90 is horrible for wind noise with the window down... would love to find a remedy

Thanks!
I think he bought the HREs because these came very undertired from the factory, plus it was getting hard to get the right fitments. Unfortunately someone stole the Fuchs when he went to check on something and left the garage open for a few minutes. Other than the engine work, it's all original inside and out. I might get crucified for saying this but if it were up to me, I'd put something like a built 993 engine into this. Like the Gunther Werks 4.0. https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod...p&resize=980:* I just can't stomach the reliability concerns. It spent about 4 of the last 12 months in the shop. Just the stock ones |

Apologized to my M3 because my wife has been driving it to work all week. Her SUV is in the shop.

Yesterday I upgraded to solid rear subframe and differential bushings. Was fun project but took 10 hours to complete the swap. 12 ton press and an engine lift were huge as we left the subframe in-tack with the control arms, etc and obviously it's pretty heavy and cumbersome to manage. Wish I had thought ahead to change the sway bar bushings while it was down.
Love the diff whine, it's not too bad but definitely noticed with the windows up.

Haha. Indeed it does! A sliding tire is a happy tire. (OK, I know it's really "a squealing tire is a happy tire" but oh well)

Cleaned off some gunk and stains on the driver side bolster then applied Colourlock on it. I probably got a little too excited and applied slightly more than I should have, but I have not cleaned up the rest of the leather and I think it will look better after I do that.
Before After Also took care of some rock chips with Dr Colorchip. Color match is good, but the chip isn't completely filled in. Might do another coat but I am just trying to get a base layer in on all of them so they are not so obvious. Last edited by akkando; 11-17-2019 at 10:38 AM.. |

I've been through quite a few of these noah covers that bmw sources from Kimberley clark, they degrade and break apart very quickly if you use it regularly as I do at work. Absolutely not worth the cost they charge, i got mine replaced three times under warranty. Won't be buying again. The material is blasted cellulose fibers (not woven), pressed and sprayed with some waterproof clearcoat that washes away in about 6 months. Pretty much all the advertised selling points do not hold true. After the waterproofing chemical layer has washed away the material texture becomes like toilet paper (just more layers of it than actual toilet paper) and eventually breaks apart in the same way. Funny thing is, Kimberley clark is a major manufacturer of toilet paper and tissue brands. This really is a short term disposable cover, for light uses only and nothing more. Indoor winterizing that's about it.
