condensation in headlight??

hey guys
ive been getting condensation in one headlight for the past few months after car washes (only on occasion), but it normally goes away after a few hours or a night - but now it is cold out and it has lasted all week.

my dealer essentially said he cant help me because my headlight enclousres are modified because they have the HID cutouts ( the shop that installed them cut a square hole thru the pop off lid and the side of the lid attached to the plastic cover of the headlamp - so its clear that there is a cut when you look at them)....
so now, anybody have any ideas - i really dont think the water is coming through that slit, as it is epoxied as well and always dry, i check it...

is there a way to get the condensation thats stuck in there out? bag of rice or something haha, i dunno

i m also wondering if i can just buy the new top plastic enclosures for the headlights ({not just the tab, but the whole top black plastic piece)...to replace the cut and epoxied ones - i dont run hids anymore...

anyways,
any advice?

thanks

It most likely is coming through there. I remember when I took off the rubber grommet on the back of my old E46 M3 to put angel eyes in, that when it popped off, I would get condensation. I would cover it back up and it fixed the problem..

That hole that was drilled is probably where the difference in temperature allows condensation to come in. Use Jb quik to seal up.

Sounds normal. It goes away within a day or two. I get condensation in the 650i almost all the time.

Obviously a seal issue, get BMW to change them all and your problem will be solved.

That started happening on my e46 m3 after I installed halos, shortly after one of my head lights died so I uninstalled the angle eyes and took it to the dealer where they replaced my headlight under warranty bc of seal failure. I'm glad I uninstalled the halos, the price of the head light was like $900 alone.

Well done ... the most probable cause for sure was a failed seal

thats my problem, dealer wont just change it cause of the holes from the hids...
so do i leave the lid off in the garage now to make the current condensation go away and then epoxy seal the crap out of the cut now, even more than before?

If you can reverse the install close to OEM I would, then take it to another dealer if your under warranty.
