Read the Owners Manual and have a few Questions
I have a 2010 M3 Coupe with the DCT. I am in the US.
On pg. 49 of the general owners (big) manual, on the right side it mentions that the passenger side seat belt hand-over will extend only if the seat is occupied. The one on my car always extends even when the passenger seat is unoccupied. Is that normal? On pg. 95 of the big owners manual, it mentions the use of Roadside Parking Lamps. I tried to get it to work on my car, but it doesn't work. European cars only?? Anyone else try it? On pg. 46 of the Supplemental Owners Manual, it shows that the rear console has 2 cupholders. My car only has a little rubber pad in that spot. Maybe this only applies to european cars? If the above only applies to european cars, you think for what these cars cost BMW USA should have a different owners manual for the US cars. Bad enough they are too cheap to have the sales brochure printed for the 2010 model cars. Yet in Europe, they still have printed sales brochures. And yes, I know BMW will say they are going green and that the sales brochures for US vehicles is available online. It's just not the same as physically holding and reading the brochure. Even Ford still prints sales brochures for their vehicles. I'm sure as I continue reading through the owners manuals, i will find many more typos and things omitted on US vehicles. |

My car will do this only if the passenger side door has been opened. It will retract after a couple of seconds... No cup holders in the rear on my '09 E92 either. Doesn't bother me a bit

In addition, if you open your door without turning off the engine, the seatbelt 'buttler' won't extend again. This car has the seatbelt waaaay back, so the stupid 'buttler' is really necessary, but question how long it'll last. Good day. |

I thought maybe it was because they had newer cars, but your '08 doesn't have rear cup holders, elp? I ask because my car does have them. Is it only the E93 for some reason?
Unless I am thinking of the 335i. I should get off my butt and go look. |

p49: the seat belt 'helpers' have minds of their own (based on 2.5 years' experience with 2007 E92 335i). Expect the unexpected.
p95: park, turn off the engine and remove the key (or hit the engine start/stop button 'off' a 2nd time), then flick the turn signal in whichever direction you wish (past the detent, if you selected the '3-flash' option). The parking lights on that side will illuminate (not blink) until you cancel or start the car. I use it any time I park on a dark residential street. It's the same basic function and procedure as has been on every BMW for the past umpteen years. p46: Check inside the fold-down armrest. |

Thanks you jogged my memory now. The e90 335i has fold out armrest with cup holders. But, the e93 M3 has rear cup holders too, they are just built into the console. You have to push on the two little doors in the rear console and they pop open revealing two (somewhat dubious, albeit) cup holders - unless I am having very vivid dreams. Anyway, I think the e92 M3 is the same right? Not sure if an E90 M3 has cup holders - no rear console. I guess it might have the ones in the fold down arm rest if you order the cold weather package and/or passthru?

They pop out of the end. It has fold down seats, but no premium or cold weather.

I guess the coupe's don't get the fold down armrest with cup holders since nobody wants to ride back there. Can't blame them.
Today, the seat belt hand-over worked properly. As another post stated, those things must have a mind of there own. |

The coupes (E36, E46, and E92) are quite a bit better looking though.

It's a feature; not a bug! This is part of the "personality package" that comes installed standard on the coupe in lieu of cupholders in the rear. It's all part of their attempt to give the vehicles some "character".

Seriously though, you e92 guys all have the pop-up cup holders in the back, right? 2008 at the very least, and probably 2009 too? 2010, maybe not so much, I would not be surprised if they killed it.

It's not a big deal to me as when I'm driving it's not really possible drink liquids most of the time (unless you want to wear them)! Last edited by Finnegan; 12-24-2009 at 12:05 AM.. |

I also am still very curious about the E92 or other E93s for that matter. Does anyone else have the pop up cup holders? |

My passenger side seatbelt rarely gets caught by the hand off. My fiance hates it.
