Is it possible to remove the "Cold start cycle" with this tune? I definitely like the idea of flashing the ECU at home with a cable and laptop. I would like to see some independent dyno results.

Thanks but that was not all my question....
In my other thread, Paul said that once you do the tuning on locked software, it is a long process each time. In this thread, you mention you revert back to 140. THe process is the fast one I am accustomed to. Is this correct? Also, if I am to consider moving away from the Powerchip software for the convenience of your cable device, would you supply me with two identical 140 based tunes, except for rear o2 state, so I could turn on or off my emissions ready mode for inspection? Lastly, I suppose I'd have to send my Powerchip tune anyway since that is all I have..... No? I am not going to go to the dealer for the upgrades until after I am comfortable with the new companies tune. Thanks! Quote:

there are two types of programme. 1) Full ECU 2) Data area only To revert to 140E software we need to flash the entire ECU and this takes around 15 mins. The data area is much smaller and this takes less than 1 min. The data area is the one that has all of the maps that we need to change. The long part is ONLY when you read the entire ECU. That's done once and once only. We can supply you two versions of software, that's not a problem at all. If your questions are still not answered we can explain over the phone. |

That was fast! less than 15 minutes to flash the 140E software and the tune.
Took a little bit for the idle to settle down, but seems happy now. Waiting for CEL removal version of the software now. |

Geez, awesome service, thanks! I just uploaded the new file, (in less than a minute) and will take the car out for a spin after the kids are solidly asleep.

Just finished installing mine and am VERY happy with the tune and service. They sent me the updated files less than 1 hour after I sent them the ecu read file. It was 7pm or so on a Friday night where they are

I just put in an order for one. I will probably dyno the car before and after and post the results within a week or two. Thanks Paul, Cant wait!

Gonna wait until I have dyno charts, my butt dyno sucks. The car feels very healthy, though.

Even better. The placebo effect distorts butts.

just ordered mine today. First ECU tune ever for me. I've got pulley, dinan cat back, AFE intake. I plan on using the iphone program dynolicious to get before and after results. I like using that program for all my cars. It seems pretty consistent and accurate.

Did anyone here who got the tune go for the optional higher rev limit? What are the benefits + disadvantages of going with higher rev limit?
Also, could you guys discuss the other options you got in ur tune? thanks

If you look at the dyno plots for these engines, ideally we should be shifting at or above 8600rpm to get the most from it. That's where I would think the biggest benefit comes from, as the "real" HP peak on the dyno seems to happen right at 8000-8100rpm. A few extra revs in gear means you don't have to shift to avoid the limiter before the next corner either.
I wouldn't bother for a street car, but it's tempting. First thing you do in an endurance race if you have a comfortable margin is drop your shift points by 500rpm or more to preserve the engine, because revs more than anything else (assuming it's tuned well) are what stresses the engine. The extra tenth or two (and I bet it's worth at least that much around a track, depending on where the "tweener" corners are) you might gain wouldn't be worth the extra stress you'd put on the engine. I'm already exploring points near the limiter nearly every day and I'd just wait that much longer between shifts. It's a nice undersquare engine so I'm thinking the valvetrain is probably the weak point, would be nice to see the results of some test-to-failure at 8800rpm. Anybody got a motor and an engine dyno to donate to the experiment?
